    ...that's it.

    No more.

No more am I putting up with this TV service as it is in my opinion the worst service I have ever seen.

Looking through this forum I can't blame anyone wanting to quit, but what do I tell them?

Will they try to say I have not honoured my contract and in-turn try to charge me?

...the way I see it is they're not holding up their end of the contract by supplying a 'working & bug free' service...

    thoughts please...

Could you explain in plain English why they are the worst tv service you have ever seen?

    how long is your contract
they will try to charge you if you decide to cancel in middle of the contract...

to cancel them and never use them again do something as my friend did, just say that you are leaving country and write them a letter...
in advance post a letter with someones name that lives on your address and they should leave you alone...

but again you wont be able to connect again as they will hunt you :pac:

    Sure
    1. Poor Remote-Control Strength - even with new batteries the remote needs to be pointed directly at the box in order to work.
    2. Cheap remote control - almost all I pick up have things broken inside and rattling about and really does look and feel 'cheap'
    3. Layout and ergonomics of Remote control - can't tell if it's up or down or what in the dark and always find myself having to 'look' at the remote to see what's going on, also buttons are really uncomfortable to use and reach.
    4. Slow loading of the TV Guide - three to five seconds is just too long to be waiting around for the guide, when scrolling down the guide the listings are always playing catch-up and leaves for a very slow clunky experience.
    5. 'Go To Info Channel' Bug - Sometimes when I hit the 'volume up' button on the Remote it will flash up '5', then hiccup and go to the 'UPC Info Channel'...VERY ANNOYING
    6. 'The OMG You Pressed The Guide Button TWICE!' Bug - press it twice, three seconds later the guide begins to load...two seconds later the box thinks about things and knocks the guide off - two seconds later the box has another think and then as if it just realizes that you might actually want to see the guide it brings the Guide BACK UP and begins to load (a mouth-full sorry, but also VERY ANNOYING!)
    7. Random shutting down of box

All your points bar two relate to the remote. This is being caused by ir interference from your LCD TV. Move the box away from the TV.
Ring up and ask for the grey remote control. This will fix your problems.

All bar 4 points I think you meant.

I think if you sign a contract and they do not hold up their end of the bargain you can get out of it. You would need firm proof you gave them a chance to solve it their end and in the end they still not provide a reasonable service.

I know with dodgy new cars they recommend handing the car back and refusing to take it. In this way you can show the car is no use and you are getting no service.

I would say you would need a list of callouts and a diary of all calls and faults every day, then ask them to disconnect you immediately and then stop payment. If they come after payment you may be able to argue in small claims court or wherever they did not provide a reasonable service. However they may mark your credit rating as bad, which would be hard to fix.

Depending on how much you have left in your contract it might be better to just give up and expect to pay for it.

If you are in an area where there are 17 analogue channels you could just watch them and not use the digital box.

Bar three actually, 1,2,3 and 5 are remote. Points 4 and 6 are the same item, point 7 is a different issue.

If you're still in contract you will have to honour that contract, simple enough.

They are delivering their end of the bargain by providing you with the television service, you might not be happy with the standard of equipment, but you should've at least done some basic research on what equipment upc supply before signing up for them,or cancelled in the cooling off period.

Not that simple. Especially when UPC aren't.

Haven't they just upped their prices again since the 1st August ?

This alone breaks the T&C of any contract/agreement one might have.

You would think in 2012 that UPC would be broadcasting better quality channels that this muck! They upped the price more than 10%, some cheek

That stupid box they give you sounds like a harrier jump jet even when powered off. Why should the HDD be revolving when it is turned off?

Why is it when you are going up through the channels they jump all over the place... A problem with the remote? No other devices are having such difficulty

we got upc tv in about 2 weeks ago had to set it up myself to a box on the wall witch is hanging out of the wall(pic below) asked them to fix it and they said if its working theres notting to fix was disappointed that they don't give hd boxes in less you want to pay an extra €5 a month witch i think is madness since rte/bbc and I'm sure there is a few others that broadcast as the norm. After all that when watching tv the box would just turn off every 20min or so by then we called up and canceled it just before the 7 day gracing period was up and was told we had to pay notting then a week later we get a bill for €54 and we only singed up for the cheapest one witch was €24. upc tv is a shambles your better off with freeview or something similar
