An Educate Together schools is multidenominational, and accepts children of all faiths and none. The 2 1/2 hours usually spent on religion every week is spent doing ethical education, using a programme called 'Learn Together'. This looks at ethics, the environment, democracy etc. It also teaches about world religions, but doesn't do faith formation. That can be facilitated outside school, at the expense of parents (e.g. children making their communion stay back after school for one evening a week). www.educatetogether.ie

It's worth stressing that, apart from the religious aspect, ET schools teach exactly the same curriculum as every other national school.

My child is starting in educate together next week, and I have to say at their intro night I was very impressed, it's almost like modern teaching, loved what they were saying about ethical classes, what they learn is very important in this day and age

One thing I do miss is she doesn't have a school uniform

As a parent with a child in the new ET primary in Ballinteer I cannot speak more highly of the incredible work that the school has done for my son in his junior infant year. Education Together are now applying for patronage of the new Second level schools in the following areas:

    Balbriggan (Dublin, 2016)

    Ballinteer (Dublin, 2016)

    Tallaght (Dublin, 2016)

    Carrigaline (Cork 2016)

    Midleton/Carrigtwohill (Cork, 2016)

    Celbridge (Kildare, 2015)

    North Wicklow (Wicklow, 2016)

I would dearly love ET to get the patronage for the Ballinteer second level school (to open in 2016) to enable both my children to benefit from a continued child-centre and innovative learning experience into secondary The deadline for the application is July 12th so the greater the number of expressions of interest the better! Here's the link to the form if anyone is interested!

How much does it cost to send your child at an ET school?

Nothing. They are taxpayer funded, the same as religious schools.

She'll be fine. Just let her express herself with her own clothes and don't fret about it. My daughter went through primary without a uniform and it was grand.

I'd hope all schools are using modern methodogies!Of course what a child learns is very important, in any "day and age!" Mod Hat on* Closing this thread as it was opened in 2012, please don't drag up zombie threads.
