Years ago I wrote a letter to a newspaper which appears if you do a Google search under my name. I want to get it removed. Is there any way? Help!!

Contact the site it's hosted on (presumably the newspaper's site) and ask them to remove it.

Keep in mind that they are under no obligation to do so. When you submitted your letter, you would have given them permission to publish it.

However, if it's not an unreasonable request, and it's made in a reasonable manner (i.e. don't go in shouting about your rights, or demanding anything), then they will likely do it.

Is it not a bit, horse has bolted.

You submitted a letter - for publication it should be added. The publication did as you requested, and now you want all that reversed????

You could try and have the particular search removed for Google - but as you submitted that letter i think its futile. You could ask the publication to take that page down - but again, I don't think they will.

It's a bit 'revisionist' on your behalf to be honest.

Google themselves won't remove anything but you can plead with the publisher and maybe they will. Once google re-indexes it'll be "removed" but tbh it'll exist in archives and similar places forever, just like your posts on boards.ie

Not quite correct. Google will remove it from their cache/indexing almost immediately if you sumbit a request once the source page is removed. Otherwise it might take a long time for it to disappear from their searches even if the original page has been removed.
