    Hey Guys,

I know this has been discussed (probably many times) before, but I'm wondering should I be eating nuts and more importantly....which ones / brand

I'm in the process of trying to gain muscle mass. One of my friends who was a power lifter always eat a bag of nuts & seeds everyday. I cannot for the life of me remember which ones he took nor why :) (Oh I haven't seen him in years nor have a contact number anymore)

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please!

    Thanks All!!

Ya nuts are excellent for bulking because they are seriously high in calories. I could get through a 150g of cashews easily enough and that's around 700 kcals if I recall. Not just calories but high protein and essential fats so good all round. Any of them will do ya - walnuts, cashews, pistachios, pine nuts, etc. I only eat cashews because I don't like the rest.

in pure ignorance of their high calories i bought some trail mix the other day to snack on at work, after a couple of handfuls i said i'd check the calories and nearly fell of the seat, shocked at how high in calories they are. i will say though that even a very small amount is very filling

ya I'm eating macadamia nuts, for my low carb diet. They are basically little balls of fat coming in at 75% fat i think.

Wonderful, wonderful creamy little balls of fat! :D

OP, M&S does a nice nut selection bag that contains a tasty (unsalted) mixture - aforementioned macadamias along with almonds, cashews, shelled pistachios and walnuts. I don't buy them anymore because they're too nice and I'd just scoff the lot in one go! :o

Sorry for using this thread, didnt want to start a new one :)

I eat one tablespoon pumpkin seeds, one tablespoon of sunflower seeds and two tablespoons of linseed on porridge everyday.

I was wondering if you guys think it's too much? Or is it ok to continue with?
I'm aware they're calorie dense, but I figured they'd improve the meal.

I used to add nuts, figured seeds were better? Or am I way off?

keep seeds and nuts (mostly nuts), but remove the porridge and add some meat :)

I know I should, but it's hard to not eat porridge...it's so easy to prepare the night before and heat up :o

I plan on trying to start eating omlettes in the morning when in college though
