Flooded Garden: Help Needed

So the current horrible weather has left our small garden in a pretty bad way. It's no bigger than 10x15 foot, but there's large sections that are completely swamped and our dog is turning it into her own mud-pie factory. Is there anything that can be done to help drain off the bigger pools of water? Please bear in mind it's a rented house, so I'm a little hamstrung. Also, describing me as a gardening novice is an insult to gardening novices. Any help must appreciated!
