The Edge Clontarf GYM

I gave up using the Edge about 6 months ago. I trained with them for 4 months and thought they were fab but then things seemed to change. The trainers (or at least mine, his initials were JS) started to look on me more as a transaction and one hour slots (costing 65 quid) became 45 mins and I was pressured a little to sign up to a more prolonged verbal contract...CASH.

The plus when I joined was that it was friendly...I left because the guys their have their friends/clients sorted and seem not that interested in newbies or non regulars. Also I it seemed to become a bit cliquey and my trainer was always chatting away with one of the other trainers about some new weight he'd lifted or what
Fair enough I suppose but no different to a big gym really and certainly not worth the money (nearly 8 times the national minimum hourly wage!!!)

The Edge Clontarf would be fine if it was a low cost gym Ryanair style place but its trying to have it both ways ie high cost, low(ish) quality.

They are not the only gym doing this... Interested in other users views on these new mini-gyms that are springing up ...

Go say it to them if your not happy about the level of service, bitching about it on here isnt going to solve your problem.

Apparently that instructor (JS) was fired from the Westwood gym...not surprised really

No he wasnt.Westwood axed all the knowledgeable(worth paying for) pts and axed middle management at or around the same time.James then went and opened his own gym.

Sounds like someone has a problem with him and is trying to run his business down

    100% this.

And anyone with a pair of balls would say it to the owners face to face rather than try to destroy a fine gyms rep as they grind their axe.

from what i hear they run a good business, give a very good service and are a nice bunch of lads. Their customers seem to rate them and fair play to them for making their business a sucess.

One of the problems is that faceless people can go on-line and try to damage a business - if you have a problem talk to them directly.

iv never been in the edge, but i do run a business. if you have an issue with the edge gym go up there and resolve it in person, what are you gaining by trying to damage their reputation? your perceived problem will still not be made right.
people like you, ah i could go on and on cos iv met a hundred of you. your chasing a lose/lose here.
big boy on the internet where you can hide behind a username.

    seriously man, you annoy man.

Have a pile of friends that use it, all rate it extremely well. Once I reach April I'll be going straight to them for a new routine and diet. If you have a problem with them raise it with the business rather than slate them online, what you're doing right now achieves nothing.

I'll chip in here, i know these lads from Westwood, a few years back, JS did come across somewhat meh, maybe omewhat ignorant, i dunno but never took to the guy, Mulqueen guy appeared to be fairly sound, either way both of them knew their stuff and in m opinion were a great asset to WW which is now just a complete joke(trainer wise). Never been to the edge but if i did it would probably be to Mulqueen guy, Fair play to the lads for opening up a business, maybe sometimes they may lose focus and come across money grabbing, as the op alleges, could be just the pressures of business, i'm sure if you have a quick word it would be sorted, they always came across very focused in WW.
