Be sure to keep the dog on a tight lead, heard there was a few went missing last year.
    Padlocks on the collar ;)

Anyone looking to pick up some stuff cheap sunday afternoon is the time to get stuff for half the asking price. Lads got stuff for nothing last year instead the stall owner having to pack it up and bring it home.

As I say I hope to go Sunday but this might change depenfing on the weather.

You definitely would be better off waiting until Sunday if you cant make it by 6pm on the Saturday.

Everything usually kicks off around 9-9:30am on the Sunday.

Most stalls would be up and running by 9.30 Sunday morning and not too many about at that stage so you would get in a fair bit in a couple of hours. You'd get parking fairly close at that time as well.
Its the bigest fair of the year( and last) for most of the exibitors so lots of bargins.

On dogs going missing last year. I heard lots of people talking about that. Young brats going around distracting owners pretending to admire your dog while his friend snips the lead. As long as you are aware of the problem it should be ok. There was a surprising number of people there with dogs in tow(or towing) last year and the vast majorty had a good day out.

Saturday will be the quitest day so easier to stroll around and see whats going on. Sunday will be very busy but the game fair athmosphere is excelent. More of a family day as well.

Come prepaired for the weather either day. Birr castle has plenty of gravel roads through the main village area so that helps a lot. The ground there is fairly good so parking should be ok. Its well organized so I'm sure they are prepaired for the weather.

Plenty off all types of hunting gear on sale. I expect there may be more traders over from the UK this year because their Fairs were a wash out.

Hey up all. Just in the door and I'm jacked. Spent the day at the Harbour House Archery, just on your right as you come in the main gate.

Must firstly commend our own gang for a great set-up. Good support and supervision of all who wanted to try the archery. Come on over and introduce yourselves. I'll be there again tomorrow.

    Shar.

BTW. The NASRPC have a great stand there too, just beside the Telescope. Not only getting support for themselves, but clubs are also represented in there along with the NRA who are taking names for various courses. Lovely display and as usual, the gang are great craic. Well done.

See ye tomorrow. Make sure to drop by. Weather is promised good until late afternoon, so bring the wellies, got a bit dug up today.

This might be of interest to some. ROI v NI spanel trials today. first photo I posted so not sure if its that great.

The ground started to dry up this evening so should be fairly good tomorrow.

There was a guy there promoting a new " gundog fair" in Sligo at the end of Sept. Not sure what its about, kind of a buy and sell fair for gun dogs rather than Game Fair I think.
I can post a web address if it would interest anyone,
