How do I go about finding a Taxi for my kids?

I wonder if anyone can help me please?
I work part time and its been great fitting in around my 3 kids with ease.
However, I've been offered full time now and the oppurtunity seems too
good to pass up. My kids are 15,12 & 9 and don't actually need minding but I do need to get them to and from two different schools each day.

Has anyone any ideas how I could organise this, without relying on friends.
In my head the ideal position would either be another mother doing the same runs or a retired person with no commitments.

    Any thoughts?
    :o

A nine year old doesnt need minding? Im pretty sure social services have a different point of view!

I presume the 15 year old will be minding the younger kids....

My 9 year old is watched by a neighbour until the 15 (almost 16) year old is home. But thanks for your concern!

I'd say a mod will move this to parenting for you Fiona.

Are the schools close to you? I'm sure someone will be delighted to help if you offer to pay towards petrol:) Stick up an ad in your local shop...or community notes in your local paper?

Where in the country are you, lots of taxis will do school runs. I did one last year which worked out very well for both me and the family of the little boy. i would ask around friends to see do they use a local guy, a taxi firm will use lots of drivers which may not suit having said that if there is 3 in the car this may not be a problem. The problem i see will be price how far away from the schools are you

The 9 year has to be picked up at 3pm and then its a fifteen minute drive to the secondary school for the other two. They finish at 3.30 and are home for 3.50. My neighbour can watch the 9 year old for the intervening time although ideally she would go with the driver to pick up the other two and therefore not need minding. :)

The primary is 2km and the secondary is 10km. Thanks for that, I'll see if I can stick up a notice. :)

I'm in Co Meath but not in the town. Its a country run so there are not really any taxi's around the area and to be honest, I'd rather know exactly who was driving the kids each day rather than relying on taxi drivers I don't know. :o

I'd imagine if you look around there'll be plenty of retired people willing to do this. It gets them out of the house for a couple of hours and brings in some money. Of the people I've known who have done it in the past (driving or child minding) it's usually been retired parents whose kids haven't had children of their own yet, and the retirees are waiting for their own grandkids and miss having children about.

There was an entire grey economy based on this stuff in Ireland for years.

    Hi OP

This isn't a topic suitable for the Ladies' Lounge. If you drop me a pm with your location and I'll move the thread to the relevant regional forum.
