Htc desire Bluetooth

Hey, I'm wondering if anyone can help, I have a htc desire and just bought a kenwood stereo for my car. Yet the Bluetooth disconnects after about 20 seconds, the phone book never downloads and the phone goes very slow. Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue?
