Help me build a gaming PC

It's been over 5 years since I've had a PC for gaming so I'm pretty much clueless to speccing a modern rig. I have had various consoles for the last few years and all I'm hearing lately is that any game I want plays much better on the PC, so I've been saving a bit of cash and I think I'm ready to take the plunge.

Any advice on the value of pre-built machines on hardwareversand.de versus a self build?

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming - Darksiders II/Sleeping Dogs/A load of stuff I got sucked into getting in the Steam sale!

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

5. Do you need a monitor? No

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080] [No]

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Maybe

8. How can you pay? Credit Card/Laser/Pay Pal

9. When are you purchasing? Within the next two weeks

A wee bit over budget when you add all the ancillary bits. I prefer USB wireless dongles (can be got for next to nothing). Pull the SSD out of the build if you want to keep costs down and don't mind loading times.

This is an OC build let me know if you don't want to OC I can do a cheaper build.

How well does that build run BF3/Skyrim? I might get one similar to yours and hope to run does games on high-ultra settings.

On high settings this build will be smooth as butter - not sure about ultra though - especially in the case of Skyrim - that game can break stuff when you crank it all the way up
