We thought you were busy doing more 'research'.:)

Sounds good. Looking forward to reading it.

Great work Eileen, looks like your characters weren't the only ones working up a sweat!

    Penguin you say?...

    Seriously though, well done :)

Oh well done! Delighted for you!

Believe me, I did research. I have the bruises and the kinky outfits to prove it.

Still recovering from that marathon. Getting the edits back tomorrow. I can't believe the speed they are going to get this book out by November.

I'm curious ... What was the output ...10, 12 pages? Each and every day!
    Did you sleep at all?
Seriously, what kind of time did you devote to writing it?
    Well done and good luck.

When I slept, I dreamed about that damned book. Apart from actually working (and I wasn't doing too much during July) I spent all the time writing, or researching, or editing. My family lived on pizza and takeaway, I didn't switch on the tv, I didn't ride the bike.

The only thing I'll say is that the research for a book with a strong BDSM element is er, interesting.

Sod the Kama Sutra! I have been learning things like how much a strap marks compared to a flail (much more), whether a crop is nastier than a cane (no, the cane is worse) and if it's possibly to orgasm from being spanked (yes, it's rare but it does happen).

I take my research very seriously....

Well, just sent back the last of the edits, and did an interview with the SUNDAY TIMES!!! They're taking photos tomorrow, should be in this Sunday's issue.

And my mother has just discovered what I write, and is determined to make Penguin pull the book, in case any of her friends discover I'm writing pornography.

    oh no, really? :(

Jaysus Eileen! I can see now why you were so apprehensive about telling her.

It's not actually porn. I call it "Romancing the Stone meets 50 Shades". It's an adventure romance, with a bit of kinky sex. But she just heard sex and that's it.

Determined in what way? On what planet does she think she has any say in anything?

It's gas though that she sees the publisher as being easier to talk around than her daughter.

She'll probably be grand once the shock wears off. Sure half the neighbours she's worried about probably have some fine kinky collections in their bedside lockers. :)

I waved my twenty page contract in her face and told her that there was no way I could pull the book or change a word of it.

    She's not convinced...

Does she not have an opinion of her own if all she is worried about is her friends' reactions?
There is a time in your life to stop worrying about what the neighbours think and your mother should have reached it by now.

It would actually be great publicity if she staged a 'Tailor and Ansty' style book-burning.:)

I honestly don't care what she says about it. In fact, I'm tempted to arrange a book signing in the closest Easons to where she lives.

You could always threaten to include a character with her first name in the next one...

She already won't read anything I write in case she's in it.

Have you drafted anything about a narcissistic drama-queen lately?

Quite inspirational, much kudos and congratulations.

Got photographed - in Ann Summers of all places - for the Sunday Times today. The story should be in this Sunday's paper.

For some reason, the photographer wanted lots of pix of me holding a riding crop and looking stern.

I can never get this straight - does "this Sunday" mean the one coming up in two days, or the one a week after that?

    Tomorrow.

Your mother can't hide from the Sunday Times article! Fair play Eileen, you're doing great for yourself. If your mother cannot see that then it's her loss. In fairness though, she may be just trying to wrap her head around the fact that you aren't her little innocent girl anymore. You've grown up into a mature older lady... with whips and garters and unspeakable sexual positions at your disposal. ;P

Thanks. It was on page three, a big article, nice pix, businesslike and not salacious.
