Great to see them all sign on. Jenkinson looks a bit like Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Thats about all I have to contribute to this discussion :D

After a quick Ocular pat down on CJ I think you're right

Yes i'd say they held off as long as possible with that picture in the hope of him signing. They will probably sign Zaha from Palace now.

    that will be quite depressing.

When questioned on Walcott's absence Jenkinson was quoted referring to him as a "Jabroni".

Didn't realise Ramsey is only 21. I had been assuming he was 23. Guess that means more room for developement in that regard. I should probably be less harsh on the lad.

He doesnt really need to be lightning quick in his natural position in CM.

Don't want to dampen arsenal fans spirits anymore and im a man utd man, but lets all try and understand whats gone on here.
Whinger says we are delighted that these 5 young players have all signed long term contacts.
However if they still haven't won a trophy in a couple of years then these same 5 players will be probably looking to get out and sign with another club as obviously these contracts have been written on toilet paper which seems to be the choice for the modern day footballer.
long term or short term contracts makes no difference because they are worth nothing today.
Like Abba used to sing,MONEY MONEY MONEY in a rich mans world

    FAB five 2012

FAB five 2005 - Henry, Pires, Viera, Bergkamp, Fàbregas

    Chalk and Cheese.

Considering you're comparing 5 young players with bags of potential to 5 players who were among the best in the world in their respective positions when they played for us, of course its bloomin chalk & cheese.

As for your prediction of the future, yes that is one possiblity, nobody is denying that, but they've all signed on long term deals which should prevent them from holding the club to ransom in the manner RVP & Nasri did. This is a positive thing for the club. Also, a united supporter of all people should know a good bunch of young up and coming players developing together & forming the core of a team can be a good thing.

He ain't gonna get no faster.

You only notice his lack of speed because he's being played out of position. If he was in the centre it wouldn't be an issue.

I'm being serious. Plenty of CMs and ACMs don't have great pace.

Yes but they have skill and can score goals, things Aaron lacks on top of pace.

Great confidence from the mod .

Of course there's a fúcking chance, it's football, never a sure thing.

Ok looks we're home first, we'd a disastrous away start to bayern and milan the past few years, with the home leg first i think we've a good chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 630 ✭✭✭danlen

TBH I think we have a better chance of beating Bayern than Utd do of beating Madrid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,608 ✭✭✭✭cson

They get a winter break, they're storming the Bundesliga, their players are in sick form (Mandzukic 9 from 15 in the league; Ribery has 4 and 7 assists in 12; Kroos has 6 from 17; Muller has 9 from 16). We are major major underdogs going into this.

    Neuer

    Lahm --- Badstuber --- Dante --- Alaba

    --- Schweinsteiger --- Martinez

    Muller
    Kroos
    Ribery

    Mandzukic

Which leaves the likes of Robben, Shaquiri, Gomez and Gustavo on the bench. They have a better player in almost every position in that first XI than we do at Arsenal, only Sagna and Cazorla would get in that team. Maybe Koscielny or Mertesacker would push for a centre half berth.

We have an enormous task on our hands.

Isn't Badstuber out with a long term injury? I read they were likely to have to play one of their midfielders at CB in his absence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

They're in great form atm and ours is patchy - just have to cling to the hope that that is reversed somewhat come Feburary.

Ok let me re-phrase it for the pedantic.

'Due to being a participant in said contest we of course have a chance of victory, the only way not to have a chance would be to forfeit the game.'

Now let me say plainly what you obviously knew I meant:

'I very much doubt we will beat Bayern Munich over 2 legs.'

Martinez is very good at CB.

Anythings possible thats the beauty of football, of coarse there clear favorites and in all honesty are probably happy enough with the draw. But anythings possible and by February we could look like a diffferent prospect altogether.
