See a big debate across twitter about who is the better player wilshere or cleverly

I no I'm biased and all but surely that's a ridiculous question

I have Man Utd mates that genuinely believe that Cleverley is the superior player. IMO its not even close, Cleverley is a decent prospect but Wilshere can become world class and a premier league legend.

    Someone tweeted this

Until Cleverly dominates a midfield of Xavi , Iniesta and Busquets. You cant compare him to Wilshere one bit.

Why is this even up for discussion?

Wilshere is also 3 years younger than Cleverley.

United fans seem to think that any player that plays for their team is automatically world class. I've been having an ongoing discussion with a mate of mine about Anderson. He's under the impression that he's a world class player worth every penny of his fee. Deluded stuff, how do even argue with that?

    You don't argue.
You just say "of course you're right", turn to one side and burst out laughing really loudly. That really puts a stop to the conversation and pis**s them off big time.

That reminds me of when they used to claim that Anderson had the edge over Cesc. Idiots.

"Every man thinks he has the prettiest wife at home" !!
BUT the Utd lads are delusional.

Yes. A team who concedes 33 has a better defence than a team who concedes 38. The idea behind defence is to stop the opposition scoring goals, therefore, whoever concedes the least amount of goals, has the best defence. It's that simple really.

Currently, that is us. It might not stay that way but as of now, we technically have the best defence in the league.

it's not that simple at all, the team who concedes 33 has a better defensive record yes, but not necessarily a better defence than the team who concedes 38

the idea behind a defence is to not allow the opposition chances, if they don't have the chances they don't score - that is simple to understand

arsenal have been allowing chances, just the opposition haven't took them

So 3 clean sheets and we're impenetrable but then a few goals conceded and we're back to the same old story.

Can we not just be intelligent about this and say tht we're improved in tht department but still have more to do?

As regards your final point, it's ridiculous. Having a good defence is about gaining points not justifying some 'best defence in the league' tag. The defence hasn't been the problem this season though, the attack has, and anyone can see that.

well you'd think they were impenetrable if you went by what's made out on here, whereas if you watch the matches you see this in't the case at all

now when the media or whoever pick up on that & comment arsenal are still looking suspect at the back, it's made out as a witch hunt against arsenal by them, which it isn't there're valid reasons to write it

i also said the defence has improved but not by as much that is made out

the last point isn't ridiculous either i don't think, giving away loads of chances & not conceding goals from them down to poor finishing by the opposition doesn't mean you've a good defence - it could mean you've a good defensive record though, which is the case with arsenal now

+ the points have nothing to do with the attack at all that's another subject

Don't think anyone's mentioned our defence being impenetrable since the first 3 games?

IMO its slightly better than last year, but only because we have had slightly less defensive injuries which has meant we've actually been able to field a back 4 of players all playing in their correct positions in every game so far.

We've played nine or ten league games now. You honestly think the only reason we've conceded so few is because the opposition had poor finishing? Once or twice maybe, but nine or ten games?

ARSENAL XI v Reading: Martinez; Jenkinson, Djourou, Miquel, Koscielny; Arshavin, Frimpong, Gnabry, Coquelin; Chamakh, Walcott

    Chamakh to score a hatrick

once or twice is all it could take though

chelsea let in 3 on sunday half the amount they conceded in the other 8 games, arsenal have scored 14 goals in 9 matches but 6 of them came against southampton - you get the point

I'm not saying they didn't deserve some of the clean sheets or that, just they could have easily have let in more by now

for example norwich should have scored more definitely, at least 2 more, city + southampton could've scored at least 1 more.

maybe not exactly impenetrable but the whole Bould effect/defence improved has been massively overstated here

then when media come out & say arsenal are still dodgey at the back (with reasons for saying it) it's put down to something against arsenal - which it isn't is what i'm saying

Pretty bad for Squillachi that he is on the bench for this. If he can't make this team, we have to sell him

Who would want him though? Hes happy to sit on the bench and pick up a wage.

As long as he's sitting on the bench he's not leaking goals. Leave him there.

Had that corner gone in, I'd be blaming Squillaci. I know he isnt on the pitch but he is close to it :pac:

    Hopefully not very, its COC!

Though jenks/kosc/djourou are first team defenders so that's fairly worrying..
