I think you have a new superstar in Santi Cazorla. I loved watching him play the last couple of years in la liga.

On the RVP transfer I thought they might have looked to add somebody from United on the other end of that deal. Somebody like Robbie Brady would have been a nice one for Arsenal to pick up. I'm sure he would be delighted to get a move to a club that has a great history in bringing through younger players and with the addition of Kagawa to United's wide players it leaves him a long way down the pecking order with them.

The hardest thing to take if the Song stuff is true is the pennies they're letting him go for. I'm sick and tired of Arsenal letting their players go at cut prices.

Song at his age, ability and appetite for the game is worth 30m when you consider what lesser players are changing clubs for. If he goes then it's Wenger's maddest decision yet.

"Wenger informed him he was no longer part of his plans".

    **** me, if true.

I have never doubted Wenger on anything material before this, but I'm a bit dumbfounded by this.

Once he released the statement he couldn't stay around.

I vaguely remember something last season about RVP insisting on having Walcott and Song around to make him stay, their summer might be defined by him leaving now.

Exactly. It's absolutely nuts. Rodwell was sold to City for 15m last week, he's a promising player but is far from the finished article yet. Song is one of the first names on the team sheet at Arsenal and still has his best years ahead of him.

I did read that Walcott was waiting on RVP to sign himself, but who knows.

Song is a defensive liability at the best of times. He has a great highlights reel of assists but I'd much prefer we ship him off to Barca and bring in a proper DM.

According to some accounts Song has a bad attitude problem which has worsened in recent weeks with the interest from Barcelona, so get rid and let him be someone else's problem.

He's still worth at least 25m though.

Remember reading somewhere that Song is the last man Darren Dein has at Arsenal.
Hope that man never represents another Arsenal player again, nothing but bad news.

He has been our hardest worker for the last three years without doubt.
Couldn't agree with you at all.

Bob was and still is an Arsenal legend and I stood behind his goal many times. That was when players had pride and courage in the jersey.

Verm getting in a little dig at Van Persie :D. Should be the next captain.

"We appreciate what van Persie has done for us in the past 1 & 1/2 years."

I actually feel more at ease if thats the case because at least Wenger has planned already for life without him and will know what way he wants to do to go forward. Its at least better than the situation with Nasri and Fabregas last season going and all of us panicking on the last day of the transfer window not knowing where we were at.

I was obviously angry and disgusted about selling RVP to Man Utd but looking at RVPs career appearances at Arsenal over the seasons it looks like Man Utd are taking a huge gamble on his fitness. Of course the gamble could pay off for them, but its still an expensive gamble.

I wonder does Wenger hold grudges?

If Wenger wanted rid of Song because of his "attitude problems" then why would he say this only two days ago. If your story was true he would be pushing him out to Barca.

I really like Coquelin. I realise he's not experienced but he'll be world class imo. Might as well bed him in in my view.

For a player with 3 years left on his contract that we are under no obligation to sell £15m is scandalous in terms of the fees that similar players are going for. I said it before but the only way I'd countenance Song being sold is if he was going for > £25m and we could bring someone like M'Vila or Biglia in for ~£12m as a replacement.

If Song, along with Van Persie, go in the manner they look like they're going then I'm afraid in my opinion last summer only beats this summer by a short head in terms of the disruption and devastation wreaked on the squad. The asset stripping going on at the club over the past 10 years was bad enough but ever since Dein left and Kroenke came in it's been absolutely outrageous.

We're allegedly the 5th biggest club in the world in terms of revenue url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deloitte_Football_Money_League[/url and the 10th most valuable sports team in the world http://www.forbes.com/sites/kurtbadenhausen/2012/07/16/manchester-united-tops-the-worlds-50-most-valuable-sports-teams/ yet we're nothing more than a feeder club the way we're being ran.

The longer it continues the more disillusioned the fans become, the more empty seats you'll see at our shiny new stadium and the farther away from competing we'll be. Unless something changes I don't think it's a stretch to say that we could well end up being another Liverpool [with the greatest respect to them] in terms of it being a quarter of a century or more before we ever parade a league title around London again. As far as I can see there's been one man rowing against the tide to keep us up near the head of the league table and for all his faults we're going to be in some state when he leaves/can't pull another rabbit out of the hat in terms of players.

He's well within his rights to anyway, the amount of players he's given careers to who have thrown it back in his face.

If song goes he must be replaced. I agree that he deserves game time this season though and he has a lot of potential.

I'd probable have Jenkinson in ahead of Yennaris as he is a very good crosser of the ball, which would be a valuable supply for Giroud.

I agree with everything else though based on what we have. I would be worried about the defensive pivot of Arteta and Diaby... Suppose we won't know until we try competitively.

Arteta/Wilshere as the two deeper midfielders would be fine. Would like to see Rosicky put there moreso than on the wing or the bench.

He needs game time that's for sure, but sticking him in unproven to the first team without that much experience would be a mistake for such a central position.

I'd like to see him in the FA cup and Carling cup games and some group stage Champions league games if we can afford it. That will build his confidence hopefully and give him the game time he needs to compete competitively for the first team.

With the way things generally go for us injury-wise, Coquelin will get plenty of game time, as a centre forward

M'vila is a nut job who is meant to be a nightmare to manage. With Song getting the boot cos of attitude issues I doubt Arsene will pounce for M'vila.

Id promote Le Coq to a starting berth. He's defensive minded, strong, decent little passer and not Alex Song.

Anybody think Ramsey might be moulded into a defensive player?? He doesn't seem to great at getting forward like.

Also what is it about African players at Arsenal? They seem to wanna run a mile once they have one good season with us.

He may be looking at Etienne Capoue of Toulouse who played for France last night. Meant to be an excellent defensive midfielder. I noticed he was the most booked player in France last season though, so maybe not.
