A win on Saturday lads really sends out a signal that we are genuine title contenders, I think our odds for the title is just too massive to not have a flutter on so ill be paying Paddy Power a visit during the week!

I think every year we were always around 12-1, 16-1.
So 12-1 now is very good odds.

More like he didn't want to see him.
You can see him looking at Vincent Kompany.

No, It's Kompany his eyes met, look again.
Lescott wasn't looking at him as he passed, Kompany was.

Considering the head on Clichy now and the fact he wasn't wearing a jersey with his name or number on it there's a pretty good chance he did just miss him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,783 ✭✭✭emergingstar

    Guess for tomorrow

    Marteniz
    Yennaris. Kos. Johan. Santos
    Coq
    Ramsey. Ox
    Theo. giroud. Arshavin

It would be nice to see a performance from Arshavin.
I'd like to give him a chance in this new setup we have, everyone is pulling their weight and the "old" Arshavin could be very usefull in the side.
Is Chamakh on the bench at all?

I see. So we are working together as a team, and you want to throw in a little disruptive lazy waster. How can this end well?

Well he hasn't had a chance to play under the new setup, he very may well be the same "lazy" player we have seen before, but at least give him a shot at playing in the side before we do get rid, which surely will happen in January?

Was wearing the green bib which suggests the bench but so was jack so I'm not sure

My guess for the team tomorrow is:

    Martinez

    Yennaris---Djouru--Squillaci----Santos

    ----Eisfeld---Coquelin
    Ramsey

    Chamberlain--Chamakh---Arshavin

  • Administrators, Computer Games Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,708 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Mickeroo

I forgot we still have Squillaci

I like that team except id like to see Eisfeld on for Ramsey instead, and Gnabry instead of Arshavin
    Guess for tomorrow

    Marteniz
    Yennaris. Kos. Johan. Santos
    Coq
    Eisfeld. Ox
    Theo. giroud. Gnabry

So the match is not on live tomorrow im guessing? Does anyone know will there even be any highlights show on tv?

I enjoy reading these posts - even if some of them are flawed and slightly wide of the mark :p

I thought we played well enough last Sunday but Gervinho was wasteful - and if we are going to compete for the title we need to take our chances. Agree with most of you guys about the players performances - a friend of mine was at the Southampton game and he said Gervinho was very frustrating ... very wasteful given the amount of possesion he had. And likewise yesterday ... I was surprised that Arsene didn't take off Gervinho instead of Podolski - even just purely for Podolski's physical presence.

I kinda agree with the post saying Chelsea will be a better barometer of our progress this season. We must beat our rivals at home and get at least draws against them away ... hopefully a victory or two. I think Chelsea will win the league if we don't ... based on their talent and depth of squad. I think Utd will be found out this season ... if teams are prepared to go to Old Trafford and try to play ... Galatasary could have got a result. I can't see City defending the title. Our best chance is other rivals taking points from each other whilst we win our home games and don't lose or draw games we should win (simple logic - if we play as well as we can we should beat Chelsea - but it will take a very good performance). It looks good and very balanced so far ... but there will be a time when we have to win or at least not lose against the odds ... injuries etc.

I think Merts is a very strong influence on the team. Maybe not as agile as either Kos or Verm but typically German in terms of organization and following a set pattern. I don't think it was a coincidence that when we lost him to injury last season we shipped some goals. Just a thought but could we stick with Merts and Kos as centre backs and maybe play Vermaelen in a defensive midfield role for some games ? It would give Arteta licence to move forward and link with Cazorla - it would also give us a chance to rest Diaby, Jack (hopefully when he returns) and also give us stability as he is a solid tackler. I really do hope that Coquelin gets playing time. I think he could develop along the lines of Flamini - he combatative with a good sense of distribution - I'd give him a central role tomorrow night against Coventry. I'd also play Giroud up front with Theo and Gnarby ... when Giroud starts scoring he will flourish ...

I'd also like to see us give the Meerkat a chance ... form is temporary ... class is permanent ... I know he's lazy and frustrating ... but ... send him out knowing if he plays well he plays a part in the team this season and maybe gets himself a move in January or at the seasons end. He possibly could be the player to slip a ball to Giroud ... he can get around a back to the byline and cut a ball back. In my book, so long as he wears the jersey he is an Arsenal player ... I just don't think he is finished.

Coventry should be a chance for some of our squad players to perform ... if we play well in league games and are maybe 2 - 0 up then surely Arshavin, Coquelin, Rosicky etc will be anxious to get on at 70 mins and try and press for a full time team place. It's what we've missed for a long time - good realistic competition for places.

Its impossible to get a starting line right for a Carling cup game. Id like to see us line up like this though:

    Martinez

    Yennaris
    Djourou
    Koscielney---Santos--

    Coquelin
    Ramsey

    ---Walcott
    Arshavin
    Gnarby--

    Giroud

Should be a comfortable enough win with that team out. Fairly experienced aswell!

Would James Shea not start in goal in that he's been on the bench as Number 2 with all the injuries or was Martinez on the bench on Sunday?

I wouldn't play Koscielney or Ramsey at all in case of injury.
Isn't it amazing that for many posters Chamack wouldn't even make the second team.

I think Giroud will start - Wenger will be anxious for him to get a goal.

I'd play Kosclieny. He needs games if Wenger is going to stick with Mertesacker and Vermaelen in the league.

Him, along with Santos, Coquelin and Yennaris I'd assume are the closest we'll get to a sure thing to start. Everywhere else is anyone's guess.

Martinez appears to have leapfrogged him in the pecking order. He was on the bench against City and every other league game that Szezney wasn't fit for. Shea was only on the bench against Montpellier.

Yes but only providing Vermailen is fit again for Chelsea.
