DRIVERS ogling pedestrians cause nearly one million crashes in Britain every year, new figures have shown.

Figures show distracted motorists cause an average of 2,525 crashes every day - the equivalent of 921,840 per year.

Researchers found drivers crash their cars into lampposts or shunt other vehicles more in the summer when men and women are wearing less clothing.

A study of 2,142 drivers found 60 per cent of men admitted being distracted by attractive women while 12 per cent of women said they took their eyes off the road to leer at good looking men.

And 21 per cent of drivers also admitted that advertising billboards featuring pictures of picture perfect models were also a major distraction on the road.

    Story continues in the Indo.

I'd well believe it, I've nearly done it myself more than once!

Judging by how our government does things I expect "Attractive Tax" to be brought in to stop such things from happening in the future.

That suits me fine as being ugly I would pay less than under other tax proposals.

How long before we see 'Skirt Assist' on the options list?

A "study". Right. What they actually mean is an "online poll". Commissioned by a car insurance company. Not like they have a possible conflict of interest or anything.

Coincidentally, this piece (on a quite similar topic) from 2008 used the exact same number of respondents as "today's" (2,142). I wonder have they just been using the same online poll for all these years

Some of em do it on purpose too. So there I am at fairviw, turning onto Malahide road. I'm at the lights. Group of girls at the corner all about 18 and all wearing skirts you could use as a belt.. One you could see her arse hanging out the skirt and when she bent over to take her phone off a friend, there was not a stitch underneath. Thank Christ I was stationary. I'd have had a heart attack before the accident. Lovely day though :D

Id say they are all young males too, a requirement to getting a licence could be to make sure the potential driver has at least gotten laid once in their lives, they will still get distracted but I would bet less so. I am sure then the accident rates would drop:D
