An Advent Monza C1 laptop has a webcam in the screen, but it does not show in DeviceManager, and there are no unknown devices showing. Import from scanner/camera doesn't work in MSPaint (greyed out).
    OS is W7Home Premium.
The Advent site shows no drivers for it.

Some laptops have a function key to disable the webcam, make sure this is not the case for the laptop (look for a blue webcam logo on the keyboard, hit the blue FN key and it to turn webcam on), also look and see if Advent has a computer settings manager, the webcam settings may be there. Lastly check the bios for any mention of enabling/disabling the webcam.

...does one of the keys [F1 - F12] have the cam function...ie fn+F6 to turn it on?

Thanks, its Fn/F7. the light comes on next to it and it appears in DM. The import into Paint is still greyed though.

Successful capture through some Adobe ActiveX control on a site.

You need to make sure the camera/scanner etc driver is installed and functioning for the import option to be available
