Is there a reason why someone would wear a hoodie when driving? Would it not obscure one's vision?

Why in the name of all that's unholy would you have the hood up when you're driving a car? It makes no sense whatsoever, much like the whole sandals & socks thing!

F.e. because you are cold in your head and you forgot your hat.

"Always beware of drivers wearing hats"

How big do you think the hoods on them are...?!! :pac:

Ill be honest I wear a hood up sometimes when Im driving. I have absolutely no idea why I do it (other than its comfortable) but I have never once felt like it impairs my vision in any way.

I'm wearing hat very often while driving. Either baseball cap style on sunny days to prevent dazzling by a sun, or normal warm hats on the cold days.

I see a lot of that in Donegal, always thought it was a bit strange. Seems to be a 'young person' thing.;)

I see people the odd time driving with their hoods up. I would have thought it would obscure you peripheral vision, and therefore be less safe.

If you are in an enclosed environment, like a car, why would you need to wear your hood up? Broken heater maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,035 ✭✭✭goz83

Obviously it depends on how far forward the hood is. A hoodie can have a negative impact on your peripheral vision. I have jumped into my car on occasion with my hood up and have to take it down, because it does interfere with your vision to the side. If you can see the hoodie out of the corner of your eye, that's the part of your vision being obscured. It might just be a motorcycle coming from the side road you didn't see.

If you start your car at -25 degrees, it might take good 15 to 20 minutes before it will actually get warm inside.

No, it doesn't, do you actually know what a hoodie is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,032 ✭✭✭Jimbob 83

In fairness a hoodie fairly limits your perephrial vision

Not a temperature it's ever reached in Ireland! To be far, anything below zero is fairly freezing (guffaw).

For all intensive purpose of this thread, i believe the assumption is that the hood is up. Otherwise, the whole thread is pointless, no?

    Sweet Jesus.

It wouldn't obscure vision if you're looking ahead, but if you had to look over your shoulder it probably would. Is your heater broken?

It's kinda like people wearing headphones while driving. Why do they do that when they have a radio?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,904 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

The only people I have seen wearing a hood over their head whilst driving is a kid in a Honda Civic who doesn't yet have the need for a razor.

Does wearing sunglasses at night impede your vision? Oh wait...I forgot to say that the lenses, which are dark are covering the eyes. Oh, and the person wearing the sunglasses has two eyes. For christ sake, (no pun intended), go poke holes in cheese.

I answered the op exactly how he asked it,all else just assumed the hood was up, that is all

The way the OP phrased the question would imply that the hood is up.

Otherwise he may aswell have asked if wearing a suit of armour without the helmet would impede vision.

i'd wear a hoodie but it doesnt really go with the spats dont you know. The good old boater was good enough for Papa so i'll stick with that if thats OK chaps.

hmm CHAPS, theres an idea would they match the old spats do you think? No best stay with the blazer; after all driving in the right gear is so important:rolleyes:

+1 but I don't see where people get "intensive purpose" from intents and purpose. This isn't the first time I've seen or heard it said/typed incorrectly.
