But i cannot seem to lose the weight. YES YES YES, my nutrition is bad, i crave sugar a alot, smoke, and drink a few pints a week.

I have researched alot into exercise and nutrition and cannot seem to find anything that works for me. I even tried many personal trainers and got poor results.

My motivation is crap and i hate myself.

    ANY TIPS?

Tip: Sort out your diet. "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". If your motivation is crap just suck it up and do the work. The reason your research hasn't shown you what you want to read is that you need to exercise and not eat crap. It's pretty simple.

You have answered your own questions! You cannot hope to lose the weight with a bad diet.

Firstly, if you cut out the smokes and pints to start with you will see an improvement straight away in energy levels.

Get more fruit and veg into you and if you start to get cravings then have fruit or nuts for a snack.

Keep up with the exercise and when you sort your diet you can up the exercise levels.

Don't hate yourself. You are not fit. No need to hate yourself over that.

You can make positive changes and things will improve. Maybe you can be unhappy about certain things that need to be fixed, but use that as motivation to improve.

I've lost 8 kilos in the last month going Paleo. That might not work for you but just ragging on yourself definitely wont work.

His approach would work, your approach isn't. The most important part of losing weight is diet. It's not going to be easy but millions of people have done it and it works.

[MOD]Irish guy, accept good advice given in good faith. You posted for help, this is it, its not always sugar coated.[/MOD]

In non mod mode, motivation does not come in a bottle or on a website and you can know everything in the world about losing weight, but you have to apply it. That is your stumbling block, you already know it.

You have to break the pattern you are in, and be ready to suffer a bit for what you want.

If you want it bad enough you'll find a way. If you don't you'll find an excuse. Motivation is simply wanting it...

Ooo what a load of crap. Never heard anything sooooo stupid in my life. Using some of the approaches ive heard here we wouldnt need any hosptials or medical / health care and your approaches is ... just do it....ha ha

Mmm that might work for NIKE but NOT for health and fitness issues. There is always a load of variables. Just like someone trying to give up an addiction like Smoking, Alcohol or Drugs for examples.

I couldnt agree more that DIET is key when it comes to weight loss. Awwwh im bored now of this. BYE

You would swear you were missing a limb or had a debilitating disease the way you are going on, you are probably 2 stone overweight and have a very poor diet. Both are easily fixable, your rubbish attitude on the other hand is another thing entirely. I don't know what the hell you expected to hear.

Either he is extremely clueless when it comes to weightloss or just looking to ruffle a few feathers!

OP, if you are being serious here, why would you post a message and start whinging and belittling us when we give good and reasonable answers? It's not our fault you don't like what you are hearing!

I've battled with my weight for years and simple thing is fix your diet and get off the couch. Like it or not that's your only option.

Do you have any better ideas?

How else do you think people lose weight?

Put down the fork and go for a walk, it really is that simple. You don't need a pill, or hypnosis or a gastric band.

The reason it doesn't work for everyone is because it's not easy, it's bloody hard work but once you get into a new routine and learn to understand your body the cravings for crappy stuff will go away.

You don't need a gym to get fit, although I would recommend a decent pair of runners. Check out couch to 5K http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

Can you cook for yourself? What is your diet like?

Start with small changes if you can't handle the thought of a massive lifestyle change overnight, it could be something simple like ditching a packet of crisps with your lunch or cutting out sugary drinks.

You said you hate yourself. But youre being needlessly aggressive towards people who are giving you the basics in how to tackle this. You have given no information other than you consistently fail. You justify your current habits with scant background on whether you have actually tried any of the wonderful stuff you've looked up, and get annoyed when noone comes up with a masterplan specific to you. No wonder you fail. Use that awful anger to motivate yourself for gods sake instead of ranting at others over your own shortcomings. If you cannot overcome your urge to eat I suggest overeaters anonymous who will help you with the mental reasons behind your weight problem.

Mmm well if you new anything about "DIETS" you would know they DONT work in the long - term. The name itself DIEts speaks for itself.

I rather see it as an Nutritional Plan. Alot of bull **** given here NOTHING constructive like.....

    * What would you eat in a day?
    * What type of exercise do you do? Cardio v Resistance

MAYBE KEEP A EXERCISE AND NUTRITIONAL DIARY.

    * Are you a member of a gym? If so did you get a fitness program?

Maybe try cut back on highly processed foods, foods high in saturated fats, reduce sugar and certain fruits.

Increase Veg, lean meat, fish, etc etc

There also can be underlining problems such as emotional issues ( emotional eating), medical issues, history of obesity in family some very nasty comments made here could infact trigger a person to get WORSE.

Awwwh just a sad day for me seeing such bull**** here.

OP, you have a really bad attitude. Change that before the diet.

You said you had no motivation. We offered some simple tips to help get started. I'm sorry but it's not rocket science. Cut out junk food, smokes and drink and exercise.

You already told us you can't afford a gym membership so go out for a walk and build up to a jog.

We are telling you what you will find from ANY information source on weightloss. Will you make smart comments about them too?

    I am 36 year old male, 5ft 6, 13 stone.

As you can see from that i am very much over weight.

Not necessary depending on your lean muscle mass.
As i cant afford to go to the gym i try do some exercise at home or go walking / jogging.

if you smoke and drink you have some cash to spend, cut back on either or both and you will have cash for gym, PT, protien etc.....
But i cannot seem to lose the weight. YES YES YES, my nutrition is bad, i crave sugar a alot, smoke, and drink a few pints a week.

You know the score here, unfortunately you cannot have it both ways.
I have researched alot into exercise and nutrition and cannot seem to find anything that works for me. I even tried many personal trainers and got poor results.

Where did you get the cash for PT? Even good advice will not work if you dont stick to the programme. Have you stuck long enought at a program and works hard enough to see any results?
My motivation is crap and i hate myself.

I would say given you immaturity here, cursing and general brat troll attitude that your not the only one that hates you.
    ANY TIPS?

Listen more, talk less, appreciate that most of the people giving you advice wont just tell you what you want to hear, but you have been doing what you want for the past while and it appears thats not working out so well.

For the other people on here, should I write down in my food diary that I feed a troll today?

Yet you ask for their advice?

I can't stand people who say nothing works. If you don't lose weight then you simply haven't done anything about it.

It's not complicated. It's a simple case of doing it - that may or may not be hard for you, but don't turn around and say that nothing works.

The information is there. Find out how many calories you need to maintain your weight; check your BMR and calculate whether you are eating above or below maintenance.

Calories in; calories out. What you're burning to what you're consuming. That's all there is to it.

I think this line really says it all!

Bad attitude, rude and unwilling to get up and do something. I think there is more to the OPs problems than weight. He is looking for someone to argue with and unfortunately this thread is where he has picked.

I think you need to grow up a lot.

(See how I made my point without cursing or unnecessary capitals???)
