    The slappers in Goldeneye.

The Klob (Scorpion SMG) in Goldeneye on the N64, even two of them was pointless.

Remember some epic Klobb v Slaps death matches. Went on for hours.

Battle rifle in Halo 2. Such a departure from the assault rifle in Halo. Battle rifle was an awful weapon.

I found the BR to be *more* effective than the AR.

4 headshot bursts to kill at close-to-medium range IIRC
Also, charged plasma pistol, quickswitch to BR was easy kill.

It felt too cumbersome. Trying to hit multiple enemies with it was a drag as you had to wait in between bursts. I'm talking about campaign mode btw.

The UMP in css is probably one of the worst weapons I've ever used in a game... and the dualies in 1.6 are equally bad iirc !

    :O

Granted you said source, but that thing was a beast in 1.6...

Dual wielded Needlers in Halo 2 were godly. Totally overpowered, but ever since then, they've been pretty weak alright.

Those fecking whips in the Ratchet and Clank games, I hated using them.

I also wasn't fond of the Bio Rifle in UT3, the range was pretty sh*t and unless you had it charged up (which took a while) it's damage wasn't as good as nearly every other weapon (at least in my experience).

The ripper is dead space is brilliant. I got the platinum tropy for it a few weeks ago and the ripper was my no. 1 weapon. When its upgraded it makes you almost unstoppable at close range.

    Staffs in Oblivion.

The Rock-it launcher in Fallout 3.

Also, the flame thrower/freeze gun/tazer in Bioshock. Pointless, considering you could shoot all three, elements?, from your hands.

lol, yeah its pretty much the most useless gun in css !

Although... i don't exactly recall it being a 'beast' in 1.6 either tbh !

I feel like I'm going to make a habit of jumping into this thread to defend weapons but the BR was an amazing weapon in pretty much every situation.

Once I picked one up I couldn't drop it for anything, campaign or multiplayer.

Good call. Actually, I found the weapons in Fallout 3 generally to be underwhelming. I was told the Lincoln's Repeater was one of the most powerful in the game, but found it fairly meh. Maybe my stats weren't good enough, but thought I had everything more or less maxed at that stage.

The knife in Resident Evil (pre-Resi 4 era).

Well you needed some chance if you ran out of ammo.

    F2000 in mw2.

Was probably my favourite gun in that game. Just treated it like an smg.:)

The ripper was a good weapon in dead space. It was devestating up close, just keep the blade spinning!

Horrible weapon. You had to like toss it, but it would usually quickly result in your death for not having a far enough reach or poor accuracy. Back in those days you couldn't cycle through weapons and you had to make do with what you had.

The amount of times I got killed trying to avoid picking it up!

+1 on that. It fulfilled it's role as a last chance desperate weapon.

I used to the hate the Lightning Gun in UT2004.

It was a decent damaging weapon but compared to the orginals sniper rifle it was useless for actually sniping!

Not as bad as the Sword in Ghouls n' Ghosts. I got so good at that game that I decided to do a challenge run with just that weapon. It's non-projectile but does double damage. Was going OK until I got the boss on Stage 4 only to find out it's impossible with the Sword.

That thing was amazing. I had more kills with it in both single and multiplayer than anything else.

Most useless weapon I can think of is the Mongol rocket launcher from the total was medieval 1 expansion. Jesus that thing was awful. Was basically loaded with poor quality fireworks.

The knife in Resident Evil (pre-Resi 4 era).

You'd be suprised how useful it was for conserving ammo, particularly in Resident Evil 1. Few shots, wait till zombie goes down, equip knife and go in for the kill if still alive.

The only aspect I didn't like about the knife was it took up a slot in the Inventory, I think they should have made it have a seperate slot item since each character had a tactical knife holder anyway. The fact it took up a slot in the inventory made people want to dump it in the inventory box ASAP

I used that for almost the whole game. I used to collect the ammo(mostly tin cans) that I had just used to kill an enemy. Wait till enemy was close straight to V.A.T.S all head shots, and when Vats was used up, keep firing until they were dead. Granted near the end I had to use energy weapons.
