Last night when the 9 o'clock news was on, RTE1 was blocking up and freezing - RTE1 on analogue from Kippure. It's doing the same thing tonight (we don't often watch RTE1 except for the 9 o'clock news)

    Saorview is fine!

Obviously this is something at RTE's end. We are getting the analogue signal on UHF and it has the 24 October switchoff logo.

It was particularly bad last night when the Olympics highlights were on during the news, the picture froze completely several times in quick succession for 2-3 seconds a time.

    Anyone else noticed this?

RTÉ TV's analogue network is sent by digital microwave link to the main transmitter sites - sounds like there was a problem in that link before it is converted to analogue PAL for broadcast.

I've reported to RTENL... hopefully someone still cares about those still stuck on analogue. We have a Saorview box on the main TV, but I'm the only one who uses it! The Saorview signal was perfect while the analogue was breaking up.
