Bitta £ to move servers -.- . And it has been tried a few times before on here with no/little success afaik.
Dunno reasons why exactly since didnt transfer myself as ppl said prob fail, some stopped playing, some too elitist or casual etc
Then if in a decent raiding guild already, chances are people dont wanna risk it to go into the unknown.

    Yup.

Aswell as people overagerating their ability big style, and looking to be carried

It never works because of numbers but not in the traditional sense, you will get many people but all at different skill level and not enough to do the different activities a guild can do well.

You could build a guild with an Irish core but you need other nationalities to be in the guild to make stuff happen, that way you could have a casual section and a more serious section.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 412 ✭✭Akarinn

I see what your saying alright..

But have we not seen Swedish and Polish guilds that work without any problems?

Like, tbh.. i wouldn see any problem with just an Irish/British guild..

For once tho, id like to be in localized guild.. yeno? Tight-nit group of ppl...

Also, instead of me making a new thread...

Just wondering can you pre-download MoP b4 release date? As in a week b4 with the client.. But obv your not allowed play it..

If so, might just buy digital version and play the minute its released.. Iv never digitaly downloaded a game.. But if i can download it a week in advance then i wouldnt mind buying digital.

    ||ANSWERED||

    Never mind.. Found a Blue-post
*When you pre-purchase World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, you will be able to download an encrypted version of the game once it’s available, prior to the game’s release. This content will be unlocked and available for play when the expansion launches on September 25, 2012.

    Shweeet.. Digital version it is.

I'm really trying to hold off of going back to WoW...its been so long. If we all agree on a server I'd be willing to start a character from scratch for the hell of it! Damn the naysayers!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 412 ✭✭Akarinn

Id be the same.. but id pay some cash to transfer a char over..

But I REFUSE to play on outlands.. due to the wait times that are gonna come into place when MoP hits...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 412 ✭✭Akarinn

So would anybody be willing to move maybe 1 Character to a new Server, and never mind the whole "irish guild" thing i suppose.

Maybe we just all join the same guild thats already in full swing on that server. I think it would bring a bitta fun back into the game for us all, no?
For me I would find it pretty cool to finally get to play without everyone who talks on this forum.

Some1 suggest a server that doesnt have long que times, but still has..

    a) Decently populated server
    b) A decent raiding scene
    c) A good balance between Horde/Alliance

The only realm I am aware of that completely meets your ABC requirements is Outland, full server, great progression on both sides and an almost 1:1 ratio which drives WPVP. Problem is it will have a long queue at launch, that will drop after a month or so. Numerous ways around a queue though so it shouldn't be an issue.

I know a few people on Ravencrest as well actually, good pop, decent raiding scene, no idea of the balance though.

Dunno but ....... maybe a idea to set up some sorta realid thing, like is some openraid thing a few people have heard mention that does old raids. Might be a bit of incentive to get ppl playin together before move a character over. Our server sucks for pugs like but multiple toons, am sure could move a alt if thought it would work. Just a thought

Really wish more ppl just even looked in on the forum from time to time..

But anybody willing to move to a server such as Ravencrest .. raise your hand and say " i "

Thats a good idea, but being on a public forum and openly telling ppl my battlenet ID isnt exactly a plan.. :-/
If only there was another way..

**Looks to a moderator for more idea's** >.>

Might be a option with this battletag thing when they bring it into wow. Make a list and add ppl or something along that.

I am some one coming back to wow very shortly.

I played on ghost lands horde and myself and 3 or 4 others from Kilkenny have a small social guild. Some of us have other characters on a different realm we plan to raid on but if you guy's plan on leveling an alt or moving one of your characters we'd welcome people with arms open. Hoping to get out own vent soon too. With our experience of playing since TBC and our different characters we might even start a 10 man team for lolz.

But yeah the idea is just a small group of friends who get along well and will help each other out be it PVE/PVP/Questing etc..

What server are you planning on raiding on so?

Like seriously.. the game is less then a month away.
Even if we dont all move server straight away,

Lets all Vote on a server to make alts on, or transfer an alt too..

    We have:

    Ravencrest
    Ghostlands
Shadowsong - Decent Pop with good PVE/PVP

someone else add another if you want..

We go to this server, find a guild that has open recruitment and all join and lvl and try and raid togther..
Or go to the server with L85's/90 and make our own little guild that we can raid with whenever.. keep your mains on your own server so u can really proggress with whatever guild you are with!

I have 2 other mates that are willing to move as soon as MoP hits.

    Im on Zenedar.

Huge Horde population, f*** all Alliance. Good raiding scene.

That being said i have no interest of moving to another realm, and as stated before this "Irish" guild thing doesnt work for very long.... Been tried enough times to know that it doesnt work.
Paying € for something that is going to fall apart after a few weeks just isnt worth it imo.

I've a few make shifts alts there on horde actually, been struggling to bother levelling them, keep hearing raiding scene is good though

Yeah, Horde raiding is great there, but as I said there is no alliance. They struggle to get enough for a PUG, Horde PUG fills in a few mins.

We also had a guild ranked 19th [Angered] with us, but they disbanded a month or so ago.

I like the Horde there, like my guild [from all over europe] and enjoy playing there. But i dont log in much at the moment as there is nothing left to do.

If you need anything when you are on an alt, gimme a holler. Name Shougeki obviously enough....

Iv said in previous posts that i dont mind if we dont make an "irish" guild..

We just all move to a server and join an already established guild on that server.. That way we can all play/raid together without having any responsibility's.

    Simple as that..

Its not gonna be an "Irish" Guild.. its just gonna be a group of us from boards in a random guild.

I just cant see how this is sinking in with some people...

Yeah. Im in one of the only 25m guilds left and even we have been 10m for the last few months....

    Same with my main guild.

Too many people left in the last few months and now the guild has basically been demoted to a 10man guild. It will be a 25man guild tho in MoP, everyone will come back and all will be good...

il be leaving my main there and transferring an alt to whatever server we decide on.. because we WILL decide on a server before MoP hits :p

Because most of us went along for the ride in one of the previous 50 boards guilds that were made up. The main issues being
    • Split between raiders, casuals, absolute slackers, beginners
    • Absolutely zero dedication to anything
    • Its a flavour of the month, everyone up for it for about a week and then leave
    • Absolutely ZERO candidates to run the guild properly
    • Absolutely ZERO candidates to actually raid lead
    • Most of us already have guilds/connections/friends who we play with.
    • Boards.ie wow guilds were typically slackers looking to get carried through raiding.

That's my experience through three of them in the last, what, seven years?

This game is over 8 years old, everyone has their own guild or group of friends they play with, or the server they are home too.

There is a minute chance that the lads I played with will come back, but even if they didn't, I wouldn't consider joining a boards.ie guild. They are a short term social ego rub, there is no longterm plan and they all die and fizzle quickly.

And to be fair that is the same with EVERY boards group that gets together for ANY game I've experienced, it goes for about a week - three weeks and then its dead in the pan.

And not being bad you spouting like mad for everyone to join together, without outlining, one thing, you can provide for the guild, what you want or anything.

    Are you running this guild?
    Is it PVP
    Is it PVE
    etc
    etc

Gonna agree with TheDoc on this. There seems to be pretty much no interest in getting this off the ground, to be honest.

Alright lads im in a pissy mood because Guild Wars 2 wont register for me so here goes..

All those points you just made a soo wrong!

All im asking is you transfer your character to a RANDOM server and join a RANDOM guild. We wont be running the guild. We are just going to be casual members, if u want to raid u can raid, if you dont wanna , then dont. SIMPLE.

    Are you running this guild?
    Is it PVP
    Is it PVE
    etc
    etc

This here doesnt count if we just all join a random guild??!!
Bring an alt to whatever server we choose, and play on the alt whenever.. Keep your Main Character on your own server , in your own guild.!

Can ye see where im going?

It cannot be any more simple then that...

What server would you transfer to though? You would need to do your research as 25 euro is a steep price to pay for a dead server.

Ok but i meant more what server do you think people should go to and why? What is the justification?

Why not use some of the already populated Irish servers like Outland ect.

    Akarinn wrote: »

I'm going to side with Doc on pretty much all his points as someone who helped run the last main Irish guild. ATT was the last mostly Irish guild and was advertised heavily here on boards. Out of a 9 month lifecycle we got maybe 10-15 people from boards who came into the guild, none made it into the main raid group on a permanent basis. Some expected to be carried, applying to a raiding guild with terrible gear / enchants / gems / spec. Some came in purely as casuals which is great, you shouldalways have people to run dungeons with, I can't recall a single dungeon I ran with a boardsie. Why? Because they never bothered logging on. Great chatter about a boards guild, great enthusiasm but zero end product. Just take a look at the Doomhammer experiment last year, great initiative, unreal surge and it seeded Doomhammer with an Irish population. That realm would be ideal for what you want, unfortunately it's a low pop realm.

A plan like that won't work either because of the fact your alt is in isolation to the rest of your characters which are established on your mains server. Like I could pay the money, send over a char and a few k gold, have two maxed out professions (which my mains account now loses access to) and be self sufficient without any problems. After a few weeks the Irish contingent in said guild just don't bother logging on, I'm then left in a random guild, on a random server with random people I don't know. I then go LFR & LFD on said alt because of the fact I literally don't know anybody, which defeats the point of being on the server in the first place. I then pay money to transfer my alt back. The alternative is I start a level 1 character and level to max, only for the same conclusion to happen. I save my €€€ but can never recover the hours of my life I wasted on levelling an alt for nothing. I have enough dead alts on random realms thanks to downtimes and notions I had over the years.

The only way that any kind of consolidated Irish venture will take off is if the battletag system comes in with proper cross realm raiding and facilities for it (e.g. an x-realm guild). As Doc said, it's an 8 year old game and habits are hard to break, friendships even harder. If I am online for an hour I want to dungeon hop with people I actually know and can have banter with on mumble. I'm all for expanding that group of players, but another alt on another server isn't something that people are interested in. So Outland, queues and all, is your realm of choice if you want to join any random guild and have a sizeable Irish present.

i cba with your moaning anymore..

do what yous like, which chances are.. is nothing.

I used to read these forums and be glad there was still some sort of irish community playing wow and enjoying the game, but clearly theres nothing left but moaners and people who WONT take a chance and move server.

Simpler still would be to stay where we are, as this project is doomed, and i would imagine all of us are pretty happy where we are, otherwise we probably wouldnt be playing the game.

Dont see people moaning. I see you not providing any valid reasoning, or seem to have put any thought into it.

People are just explaing this has been tried a number of times, and every time has failed. Badly.

If you want people to spend 25€ on something, you should at least have the decency to put a bit of effort into the idea. You saying its simple, and to just transfer seem like nonsense to me, to be honest.

And what about people who want to raid? They then have to start looking into finding a raiding guild on that server and so forth.

Im not trying to belittle your idea, but it really doesnt have any merit. Some guy on the internet with "lets do this and move here" is not good enough for me to spend 25€ and go trapsing around the server lists.....

And he gives "boards projects" alot more time then I do...

We opened the doors to boards applicants within our guild, which was very much our reputations on the line and it backfired like the deathstar and we had egg on our faces. So never again ;)

And with realid and cross realm raiding, get a sticky thread organised and maybe organise a once a week raid or something. I wont lie and say I'll have interest but its an option more appealing rather then joining another server, where there is a 100% chance of epic fail and wasted money
