For me it's a pale blue zip-up hoodie I got in Sasha about 15 years ago . Over the years, it has turned into one of my "house clothes" items. It's long and loose and really comfortable and I just love coming home and changing out of the work clothes and putting it on. It's after wearing surprisingly well considering the amount of times it's been worn and washed, it's only a little frayed at the cuffs so fair play to Sasha for that :D.

Any other ladies have a clothing item like this that they can never see themselves parting with??

Thread title combined with your username.....nice. :pac:

I have a problem with hoarding jeans - the vast majority of mine have holes and the hems are all ripped, but I can't bring myself to throw them out because jeans that fit well are so bloody difficult to find!

I would just like to clarify, I don't hoard my knickers :-)

My Manchester united jerseys. I bought the centenary Jersey in 2001 when I was in 6th class and it's still too big for me. :o I love it during winter though coz it's really heavy and warm.

A pair of flared jeans I got in M&S about 3 years ago - they went with everything, and they were the first pair of size 12 jeans I got after losing a hell of a lot of weight. Zip broke on them last week :(

A full lenght black and white thule and satin skirt. Its rather dramatic andreally not suited for everyday wear(unfortunatly) and theres not really a point in keeping it but it such a beautiful piece, cant part with it.

I have a disgusting pair of pj bottoms that I am wearing right this second! They're from the men's dept. in Penneys and they're cartoon strip print. There's holes along all the seams, the ends are shredded because they're so long, the dye is half washed out and they're worn all over. I dont see myself ever throwing them away!!

I have a halterneck dress that I got from Sisley 17 years ago - I am tempted to get a copy made I love it that much, I still wear it a couple of times a year if we get the weather. I got it for then 30 Irish Pounds when it was reduced in a sale and love this dress.

I got a dress years and years ago for a Christmas party back when I worked in a company that always had a lavish formal party in a hotel down the country with food, drink, hotel room all paid for. I just loved the dress, still do. It's full length and slinky but it's very formal and kind of Christmassy and I've never worked anywhere since that had a proper Christmas party like that so I've never worn it since but I couldn't bear to part with it.

I have a pair of jeans that I got in 2006 after my second child was born, a couple of months later I was pregnant with number 3, I haven't fitted in them for years, well not until last week..... Last xmas they wouldn't even come above my knees, now I can fasten them if I suck my gut in....

They are a bit tight on my upper legs a few more pounds and they will fit fine.

I also still have a dress I wore at an xmas do, back in 1996, its a full length backless dress that stretches, it still fits me, even though its a size 8.. My daughter wore it for Halloween last year ( with a vest under it).

I have my wedding dress and will keep that forever...

I have my daughter's newborn clothes from almost 13 years ago in a suitcase in the attic and a few of her dresses.

I have my son's newborn items in the attic too.

I will never get rid of the kids newborn clothes.

That's so funny- I was going to start a similar thread yesterday! I'm moving in a month and thought it was finally time to tackle the chaos in my wardrobe so packed a few bags to charity shop...and my god it was hard! There were clothes in there I've been carrying round for 8+ years without wearing but everything holds so many memories... the dresses I wore on special dates, the outfits that always made me feel a million dollars (even though now they don't fit and they're shabby as hell from the amount I wore them), things that aren't that special but just remind me of a certain time in my life...etc.

It made me think how much clothes can hold emotional memories. I used to work in a care home and always noticed that the ladies there loved seeing what I was wearing everyday, to the point that I used to overdress quite a bit to give them something to talk about! They had such limited lives now in many ways, but a piece of jewellery, or a dress or something that reminded them of something they once owned could spark such lovely reminiscences about their old dates and relationships, or the first dance they went to, or the outfit they wore for their first day at work...it was really touching.

Actually yes I've the clothes both of my girls came home from hospital in and their first pairs of shoes!

Hoodie!! It belonged to someone else, and even though we don't talk anymore, I'm gonna keep it forever, even though its manky and ugly and I would be ashamed if anyone actually seen it on me. I love it though.

I've a pair of over the knee black leather boots that I bought in Topshop 2 years ago. I've never worn them but I'm determined that I will one day and I think they look only deadly! Can't bear to part with them despite never ever wearing them! Apart from that, I've nothing really and anything I have gotten rid of, I've always regretted. Lesson: hoard more!

I have a tight black mini dress with gold sequins in the shoulders from Miss Selfridge, that I wore on my second date with my ex boyfriend. He always said he liked it. It's a lovely dress and it hold some great memories so I won't be getting rid of it, even though it is now too big.

I also have a pair of black Victorian style boots that my Dad chose and bought for me some years ago in Spain. They're not trendy as such, but they're just fabulous and hopefully I'll find a way to wear them :)

I've a beautiful long brown suede jacket which I got from my Aunt's old clothes in the attic, she wore it in the 60s. I love it, it's beautiful and has been all around the world with me.

I also love my massive grey hoodie I nicked off my boyfriend on the first night we kissed over 5 years ago. My hoodie now :D

My jeans. They fit great, look great, and have the high waist I want.

Unfortunately the arse on them split last time I wore them; it must have been hanging on by a thread for months. Gutted.

Earlier this year I actually threw out some of my "keep forever" bits of clothing, such as raggedy old hoodies, pj bottoms, 2 huge FDNY t-shirts I bought in New York.

Now though, I have a dress that I'll definitely keep forever. It's a floor length, strapless, blue dress with embellishment under the bust that I got for a wedding a few years ago. I was the happiest I've ever been with my body at that time so it holds a special place because of that also. I just remember feeling so great in it. I still have it and it still fits me but my body has changed a bit so it doesn't look as good. Unfortunately, I haven't had any event to wear it too since so it's been sitting in the dry cleaning bag since that wedding.

I can't throw out jeans either unless they break - finding well-fitting jeans is damn hard when you're fat and short :pac:. A tip I heard once to make jeans last longer, is not to wash them unless they're stained. If they just need to be freshened up, stick them in a plastic bag, tie it and roll all the air out. Then freeze them overnight. It stops them fading and keeps the seams from wearing out so quickly :)

I've had this one pair of really good jeans for some ten years now. They are the comfiest things I have ever worn in my life. Thankfully they're good enough that I can wear them for work and going out.

Also one great zip up hoodie type top, except it's quite thin. It's pretty tattered on the sleeves and has a few burn holes, but it's still insanely comfy.

Wow that's a brilliant tip, the amount of jeans we all must have ditched when that blasted inside seam finally gives way!

I have a pair of sweatpants I bought in Abercrombie and Fitch in the States about 5 years ago, and they are almost falling apart but I love them!

I also can never bear to get rid of little tops, like string tops, tank tops, etc. If they start getting too small for me , I get a bit sad about having to get rid of them :(

I've a favourite jumper of my dads that I rescued from the charity pile after he died.

Its a very comforting reminder of him

The OH is in charge of keeping in safe and does a sterling job

Where's me jumper, I shout at him regularly, and he knows exactly what I mean :)

    I have this t-shirt

    Rhys-Ifans.jpg

When I first started going out with my husband he gave it to me to sleep in when I was over in his. He won it in a Notting Hill competition. So 13 years ago. It has never seen the outside world because of what it says on the back.
    Fancy a Fúck?

I love it though and I'll never part with it!

I have a pair of slip on shoes i got years ago in TK Maxx for a total steal, they have holes, the soles are completely worn down, but they are so gorgeous i can't bear to part with them.

That's amazing! I wash jeans all the time so I have to replace them every few months as they fade or just generally start looking a bit worn. Definitely gonna try this.

I'm moving house tomorrow, and I had to pack all my clothes. It's amazing to see all the clothes I have that I forgot about, and haven't worn in forever, yet I have "no clothes" :D

I have a pair of jeans with a huge rip in the knee because I used to wear them horse riding, I ripped them getting up on the horse, they are so comfy to wear around the house/on a fat day because they are such soft material, I don't have it in me to get rid of them!

I hoard way too many clothes.
A cardigan that belonged to my late granny.
A hoody I bought in college.
A pair of jeans that I am determined to get back into.
A dress I got 10 years ago for my brothers wedding. I was 20 and it was the first expensive thing I ever bought. I could probably still get away with wearing it.
A silk maxi dress that I got a couple of years ago in A-wear and I've worn to weddings and christenings and communions. It's all girly and floaty and I love how it makes me feel. Am wearing it again to the races this week :D

I see my daughter has now started pilfering my clothes. She has adopted one or two of my smaller hoodies and lives in them.

I have a baby dress my Dad went out and bought for me when I was born, coming up on 40 years ago now:eek:. It's made all the more special now since he passed away, no way I'd ever part with it.
Also my Christening gown, it's very unusual, in that it's crocheted. My Nanny made it for me, my sister wore it, my girls wore it. We'd our little one's christening recently, and although it's not as white as it used to be, no way I'd have put her in anything else.
I have my Guns n Roses t shirt from Slane '92. It's a bit faded, but I still dig it out the odd time and wear it:D
A purple and white PLO scarf, I have since i was about 18, still wear it now.
A pair of fitted silky, black gloves that I'm sure I got in A Wear when I was about 18,( Jesus is A Wear around that long??) I just love them.
A black leather bomber jacket, I got a few years ago in A Wear, don't think I'll ever part with it. Similarly, a pair of black leather Doc Marten boots, the kind that are almost knee length, and zip up.
On the other hand, there are clothes that I wore during my last pregnancy, that I had to get rid of. Nothing wrong with them, could have still been worn, but they just screamed pregnancy at me:p
I had a lovely fitted, black shift dress that I had for years, thought I'd never part with it. But I wore it to Dad's funeral, and couldn't look at it again..

Only things I can think of are two nighties. One is a cotton teddybear one that my mam gave me the first time I went to the Gaelteacht, when I was about 13, the other a blue one with a cow on it that a good friend of mine gave me as a present when I was around 15 (I'm wearing the cow one right now!) They've both gotten looser and looser in the wash over the years, and they're actually both massive on me, but that makes them even comfier! :D I still wear them all the time.

Apart from that I don't hoard clothes at all, I love to do a good clear-out every couple of months! Plus it's always an excuse to go shopping!

Dresses. I have never thrown out or given away a dress. I have about 20-25 dresses (some cheap, some expensive) all hanging up in my wardrobe. Most I have worn once, but I can't bear to part with them. Whats worse is that I use anything as an excuse to buy a new dress. My cousins 21st is coming up soon, so no doubt I'll feel the need to buy another one! I think I've an addiction..

I have a pair of green tracksuit bottoms I got when I was 15, I'm 30 now and I still have them, granted they are now PJ bottoms, not fit for wear for anything else but they are my ultimate cosy bottoms to chill out in,
