Gents and Ladies, Iv a small problem. I am signed up to run the City2Surf in Sydney in 2.5 weeks and I havnt done any training for it.
I was playing soccer once or twice a week up until about 4 weeks ago but nothing since then.
Iv got 2.5 weeks to go and just wondering what the best strategy is?

    1) Just wait for the day and give it my best
    2) or go full leather training for the next 2 weeks.

I ran it last year in about 1:24 with minimal training. Would like to achieve something similar this year.

    What ye reckon?
    Cheers

I'd do neither of those options. No point waiting it out when you have 18days. But going hell for leather is a recipe to being worn out on race day.

I'd try get a few runs done this week and next. Go easy this week and harder the next, then take the 5 or 6 days before the race very light, rest, some jogging.

    Maybe something like

    Thur: Light 5km
Sat: Long slow Run below race pace
Sunday: Short Tempo run +/- race pace
    Tues: Light 5km
Weds: Hill session (as you know from last year, this is needed)
Saturday: Long slow Run below race pace
Sunday: Short Tempo run +/- race pace

Maybe some jogging race week but i'd rest on race week.

It's a tough course, but 1:2x should be achievable.
I ran it last year too. Was planning on running it again but I'll be away for it this year.

Let us know how you get on.
Its tough but a fun race. Heartbreak feels endless. Hills running defo helped the most. I finished in 1:03, was hoping to break 1hr this year.
