Am currently on payg tesco and phone will most likely be a payg. in this bracket is the huawei g300 the best? then update to icsb927? i was looking at tescos lg optimus l3, or me or they have a galaxy y too round that price. would like maps/gps and email etc on phone. thanks for any…

stevek93, Huawei phones, typically, are very umm.. user friendly, from the point of view of unlocking and modifying\adapting Roms.

Have a gander over at Modaco (http://www.modaco.com/) and XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/).

Does the Vodafone version of the phone have a (switched off/inert) NFC capability?

It can be unlocked via ebay and a custom rom can be installed.
Get a free sim off another mobile company, so you will have a number to port to, and get €20 off the price of the phone.

in order to get the €20 off, you need to port a number to Vodafone.

Get a free sim from Tesco (or any other SP excl VF) & use the number on that sim as the port number.

When the phone arrives it will come with a VF sim which you can discard or give to someone else.

Get the G300 unlocked via Ebay for about €7-10.

Total cost of phone €110 plus unlocking fee.
If you were to stay on vodafone there would be no need to unlock the phone from the vodafone network.

Cheers mate just ordered a free sim from Tesco. Might sell my galaxy mini on adverts when I get the phone so even cheaper again
