Hi folks , I'm looking for some opinions on how to loose weight and what do you think would be the best form of exercise for me .

I'm a lady in my early 30's , about 5 st overweight and really need to do something about it .

Admittedly my diet is awful at the moment and I am taking no exercise at all , so I literally need to start fresh.

Just wondering what you guys think would be the best form of exercise to help get me started . I find gyms boring , not a good swimmer , so that doesn't leave me with a lot of options .
I used to love cycling when I was younger , I cycled everywhere right up to my late teens but haven't been on a bike since , but I think it's one form of exercise I will enjoy , would cycling be good to help me start loosing weight ?

any advice or opinions appreciated :)

People will probably jump down my throat now but however.....get your diet in check first do it slowly start by cutting out take aways eating more veg then cutting out bread...then get the exercise going take a look at the couch to 5k program...try lower your carb intake and have a calorie deficit everyday...just take it slow its q marathon not a sprint...and my tagline "if its processed dont eat it"

I would join slimming world so you can learn how to eat properly. When you start to eat better you will feel better and have more energy.
I have lost over 3 stone since Feb 2012 after trying a lot of different diets.
With slimming world you can eat good food and have 5 to 15 syns a day to have a treat or even have an odd takeaway once it is with the 15 syns.
Slimming world encourage you to work towards you body magic award which means you start doing a few mins walk each day which you build up as you get fitter.
This helps you lose weight and to tone up as well.
    Good Luck

Get yourself a good personal trainer, they should look after you diet as well as starting you off on an exercise regime.

Thanks Nyberg , but aren't they very expensive :(

ok so today I bought a mountain bike and joined the gym . Plan on starting tomorrow with maybe a swim until I get a gym memeber to plan a work out for me , so it will be a workout or class plus swim 3times weekly , plus a cycle maybe 2 or 3 miles daily , that's the plan anyway:)

As I said my diet is very poor , I know what I should and should not be eating , but I find it hard to get into the right mindframe . have been a memeber of WW 2 or 3 times before and been very sucessful when I was younger . Joined slimming world before also but just couldn't get my head around it after being a ww member . So,I'm thinking that hopefully once i start excercising again and feeling good about myself , I will start to watch what I eat again , I'm hoping diet and exercise will come hand in hand for me . will keep ye posted if anyone's interested :)

what do you guys think of the plan ?

Educate yourself. A lot of people eat miserable food, in the belief that it's doing them good. Healthy food can be delicious. It's shocking how many people I come across who think they're eating healthy (special k, bagels, etc). Educate yourself, get portion sizes under control, and start small -- don't dive into a super healthy regime that you can't keep up. Take a few steps in the right direction, and this will inspire you to continue to make changes.

Don't worry if progress is slow too, as long as you're doing it right. You won't be slim in 6 weeks, but it's a life-long deal. You gotta think long term and have some patience.
