Putting your houses in order

    Does anyone have any insight on how the houses are numbered in the 1901/1911 census in rural areas? The houses dont have actual house numbers. I've been trying to figure out which houses are which. counting the number of windows etc. Are the houses recorded in order? (This doesnt seem to be the case) Or is it pick a random house until all the houses in that particular townland are recorded??
