Just wondering who you all think has been a role model recently

I would vote for Guliana Rancic - for those who are not aware she is a E! news presenter and married to Bill Rancic - They have a reality show together which follow their bi coatal marriage (Guliana working in LA and Bill based in Chicago)

On the show we have seen their struggle to concieve, trying IVF getting pregnant and then having a miscarriage, tried IVF for a second time and it failed. They then switched to a fertility doctor in Denver who wont take on patients until they have done a smear and mamogram - the results of her mamograme were not good, she had breast cancer, so after getting a double masectomy they are not expecting a baby in september (through surrogacy)

I just think she is fantastic, I have watched their show since it started and my heart just goes out to her, she is brave to be doing this so public and think. Their is so many 'ordinary' women who are also going through this and I just think they are so brave and my heart goes out to them all...

    Katie Taylor- she's amazing.
Strong, genuine and inspiring. It's brilliant that with all her sucess in boxing, she's still so down to earth and doing it all just for the love of the sport.

I liked Ashley Judd before this year but having read her response to the "puffy Face" accusations, I loved her more. Her insight was spot on, I would love to read more by her. It's also brave to come out fighting when you are being attacked in this way, she risked a lot of rolled eyes, "oh here is goes getting defensive" or "ah yeah excuses like she was sick". (I think every woman has experienced that response at one time or another.)

That women are joining in the ongoing disassembling of my appearance is salient. Patriarchy is not men. Patriarchy is a system in which both women and men participate. It privileges, inter alia, the interests of boys and men over the bodily integrity, autonomy, and dignity of girls and women. It is subtle, insidious, and never more dangerous than when women passionately deny that they themselves are engaging in it

It's brave to state it like it is, but also to call women out on the role that we play with regard to the expectations we place on other women, as well as ourselves.
