    Jurassic Park

The hype was incredible, every child in Ireland and indeed many of the adults too were talking about it

    Merchandise everywhere

Film was brilliant through my childhood eyes!

It cost 3 punts to see a film, same price for an adult or child

When Titanic came out the price was jacked to 4 punts and there was a lot of grumbling and moaning over that. No film had ever been that expensive in our town
Tis a small town, only two screens in the cinema, they had a monopoly and they certainly knew it

The first film i saw in a cinema was Darby O Gill and the little people . I think i was about five , so that would make it 1959 . My mother brought me to see it in the Star cinema in Crumlin . I couldn't really understand what was going on in the film but I liked the scenes with the leprechauns !

Batman and I was ****ting myself, I was only just 5. Next was Land Before Time, it had dinosaurs loved it. Our cinema closed down after that.
Next was Jurassic Park and was scared after that too. Dinosaurs can open doors, holy **** Batman.
Next was Batman Fovever. First four films were split over quite a time frame.
Jurassic Park was great had a tshirt and all the trading cards.

Octopussy at 3 years old. :o

The old man's a big Bond fan, obviously couldn't pawn me off on somebody that day.

I would imagine the whole 'Pussy Galore' thing was lost on me at the time. :D

I genuinely can't remember! Fair chance it was a Disney animated feature (Robin Hood or The Fox and the Hound maybe), and was almost certainly in Gorey cinema in the early 80s.

Some film called Star Wars in the Savoy followed by re-enacting the Millenium Flacon vs tie-fighter battle on the swivel chairs in Burger King. Lasers, pew pew, indeed.

    was completley weird

first time i ever went to the cinema was on a school tour in 1983 when we went to dublin , we went to the wax museum and the zoo and then on to the savoy , i was in junior infants , you would think the likes of ET or return of the jedi would have been the obvious choice , NO , the teacher brought us to a small independant film with john hurt about a jockey who contacted cancer but recovered to win the grand national

the second time i went was a few years later to the he man animation movie , lived in deepest rural ireland so going to the cinema was a rare treat

Casper the friendly ghost when I was 8. Next one after that was The Horse Whisperer when I was 11. My mum was never a big cinema goer so when I was very young I didn't get to go much, I make up for it now though :D

I think it was superman 4 (or a re-release of Superman 1/2 if that was released in the late 80s in Ireland) and I remember mostly because we were sitting really close to the screen and I got a headache! From then on I've been very picky about seating!
