    what was yours?

it had to be reign of fire for me.
Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey and dragons, it should have been awesome

really, really should have been better, but it was just a huge let down. it's not the worst movie ever, and I really wanted to like it, but it just couldn't deliver what it promised.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace

Travelled all the way to Sligo to see it and was completely hyped. I was almost upset coming out of that film :(

Anchorman - So many people where ranting & raving when it was released, saying it was the best comedy in years. I was so let down by it, sure there are a couple of funny moments in it, but it does not deserve the amount of credit it gets.

Might be controversial but The Godfather Part Two. Loved number number One, one of my favourite movies, and I heard from some people that Two was it's equal and arguably better. I certainly enjoyed it, but felt massively let down nonetheless. Not a patch on One in my opinion.

prometheus bc i didnt really understand the beginning of it where the alien drinks a substance and dies horrifically, and perfect storm i was expecting a struggle of survival at the end,or something good that would come out of all those fishermen dying in the boats sinking..

After the sucess of Heat, I really looked forward to Righteous Kill. One of the worst films I have ever seen. De Niro and Pacino were dreadful.

Lethal Weapon 4, Die Hard 4, Indiana Jones 4. There's a lesson here somewhere

    The Matrix Revolutions
The Wachowskis lost it in the last 20 minutes of the otherwise excellent Reloaded but the 3rd was just utter garbage apart from the war scenes in Zion with the mechs from Aliens.

    Terminator Salvation
The most misleadingly awesome trailer of all time coupled with that miserable effort at a Terminator flick. So much facepalm it had people wondering if the 3rd was all that bad. Now THAT'S failure.

    Star Trek Nemesis
Let's kill Data for a laugh. **** youuuu.

    Prometheus
Written by the talentless hack that is Lindelof. Even the Lostites were struggling to try to make sense of the braindead mess of a "sci-fi" movie he created.

    Super 8
I knew something was wrong when
a jeep derailed a train and to add further insult the guy in the jeep actually survived,
    awful film.

The second star wars prequel "Attack of the Clones". It was like a kick in the balls.

Avatar - jesus thats a long time of my life never to get back

The Blair Witch Project - Not tense, not scary and boring as hell in the end I couldnt wait for those annoying teens to get bumped off. Pity it took so long.

Definitely Avatar. Shockingly bad film. Not one bit of it is original or interesting.

Keanu Reeves "acting" in The Day the Earth Stood Still. Worst film ever.

Not to be Twilight bashing but I had never heard of it and went to see the first one on the advice it was a Vampire movie. I like Anne Rice novels and Dracula movies so I said I would give it a chance OMFG:eek:.

Agree with other posters re Matrix. First one is one of the best movies of all time. Major disappointment on subsequent films

Anchorman, went out and bought it based on the things i'd heard about it, what a pile of shít. A couple of funny moments, then just a pure hour and a half of cheese and unoriginal bollocks. I still have it on dvd and cringe every time i see it in my stack of films.

In before someone says The Dark Knight Rises the be 'controversial'.

Spider-man 3 for me....Raimi got everything so right in Spider-man 2, the third one seemed like a big f*ck you to the studio for their interference.

*dances off down the street pointing fingers at people ala Fonzy.

it had so much potential, felt like a toy throwing exercise from Raimi tbh. "oh you want Venom? well here's a sh1tty version with the guy from That 70's Show"

Vanilla Sky. As a huge fan of Cameron Crowe's past work, especially Almost Famous which is one of my favourite films of all time, I had such high hopes for this one. And I usually like twisty / what-is-reality type films. I even almost convinced myself that I did like this one too because I wanted to so badly. But then I had to admit to myself that it was actually a pile of pants.

    GTFO

Anchorman is one of the best films ever made!

Most recently it would have to be Sherlock Holmes 2. Not even a hint of the charm of the first, I was really looking forward to seeing the sequel, and on my advise my friends came along with me to see it in the cinema. Two hours later I was bored, disappointed and embarrassed to have suggested it

    Also:

Superbad - yet another film that was being hailed as one of the best comedies ever. I couldn't even watch it all the way through it was so mind-numbingly boring

Snow Dogs - because I was young and the trailer had talking dogs in it, which turned out only to be a dream. No talking dogs here :o

Revolutions for me. I wouldn't say reloaded was excellent, the cgi was awful for the 'burly brawl' or whatever with all the smiths but I still enjoyed it. Came out of revolutions thinking "**** you wachowskis, what the **** was that bollox" the Matrix is still one of my all time favourites, probably my top sci-fi movie.

No old ones here so I suppose time helps you to forget.
My most disappointing film was 3 Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. Even today, I still don't like it.

More recently, Swordfish, Avatar, Star Trek Nemesis and that god awful 3rd Matrix movie.

Tough one. Gotta say off the top of my head, for a recent flick, the Hunger Games. Ugghh.. boring.

Agree with both of those and add Dumb And Dumber. Everyone I knew was telling me it was the funniest thing since time began, I have never forgiven them. Everything in it had been done before by better writers and better comedy actors.

    Got to be Bridesmaids

When it was billed as being the female version of the hangover, which is one of my fav films, I couldn't wait to see it. Biggest pile of ****e ever

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 270 ✭✭Supermensch

Scarface. Everyone goes on about it being a classic, so I decided to watch it. It was a gangster film for people who aren't really into gangster films.

Star Wars IV: A New Hope. It was alright, but I don't get why it's considered must-see sci-fi.

(Should probably don my flame suit :D )

Other films that have let me down are Avatar and Drive.

Almost forgot, Judge Dredd with Sylvester Stallone. Loved Dredd in the 2000AD comics so I couldn't wait to see it on the big screen. Awful awful movie.

Looking forward to the latest attempt:rolleyes:

Paranormal Activity - everyone else saying it's was terrifying but it ended up being utter crap. Hardly made me wink and eye throughout the whole film.

    super 8 was awful.

What was wrong with that horrible CGI?

It spoilt it for me. The ending summed up
    the end, like. :)

But dem monsters. They looked liked summit from PRIME EVIL
    or summmit?!?!
