Thanks .com, I'm sure they will cover anything you like on the boat, you just give them a breakdown list of everything you want to insure and how much it will cost to replace and they will work out the final cost in your insurance quote it should be the same as I insure my outboard you insure your sails, I insure my VHF you insure your foils and so on.
Your best bet is to give them all a call just like getting car insurance then when you get the lowest price ring the others back and see if they can do better :D
Be fair and honest when you give your price list most people who work in this sector know boats and the price of things also if you have house/car insurance with someone like alliance they will do you a good deal.

    Best of luck.

I've just been through this exercise and in most cases you will have to pay the first €250 of any claim (depending on your level of cover), which is usually way more than the cost of a new centre board or rudder etc. You may be able to negotiate a lower excess but the cost of the policy goes up accordingly.

Bit confused by the following on the Allianz website:

"Vessels Not Covered - Catamarans and all other Multihulled Vessels, Jet Skis, House Boat, Ferro Cement Hull, McGregor, Monterey, vessels constructed from Carbon Fibre, Foam Core GRP, Scrimp, Foam Core GRP and one off design vessels."

I assume this means MacGregor's and Monterey's are not covered by them - wonder why just these two brands along with all the custom stuff???

I tried calling but all people dealing with Pleasure Craft quotations are busy but they will call me back. Still I hadn't realised that Mac's and Monterey's were more prone to insurance claims......

Ok Spoke to Allianz - they don't cover MacGregors as they have water ballast - which makes them prone to osmosis apparently....... funny enough I've never heard of a MacGregor with osmosis.:mad::mad:

Scratches head, makes mental note to look at marine policy as osmosis invariably is excluded as a cause of loss.

If this is the case with them I don't think I would insure one :Dhttp://forums.sbo.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?t=21661
