Captains of crush hand grippers

I'm trying to find somewhere to buy a hand gripper to build my grip strength for gymnast ring work, I looked at amazon but they won't ship to Ireland. I'm from Galway so the only sports shops around are the likes of elverys which sell the crappy small ones that a child could crush.

Also, i'm wondering what level to get? I can deadlift 140kg double overhand and after that my grip starts to give way. I was thinking of the No. 1 which is rated at 140lbs, or No 1.5 which is rated at 195lbs. I might be getting ahead of myself but my grip strength is holding me back in a few areas and would rather strengthen my grip than start using straps to mask the problem.

The 1.5 should be good for starting off. I've a No.2 and it's fairly tough.

    Strength Shop UK sell them.

Very good value when ordering from UK IMHO.

I hope I'll get back to this later, but 2 points:

    1) false grip your rings if you're not already
    2) supporting strength is more important for your purpose than crushing strength

Supporting - keeping your hand closed while loaded
    Crushing - closing against resistance
    Pinch - mostly thumb strength

The CoC definitely won't hurt, but they may not be the "best" way. F*cking badass cool toy to have tho.

Buy them all - I have a trainer - #3 and trainer is comfortable, #1 is ok and #2 is hard and only been closed a few times by me, #3 is for me impossible! [:D]

Buy direct from ironmind or get some grippers off mobster in the UK.

Cheers for the responses everyone. Didn't realise there was more to grip strength then just having a tight fist, thanks for clearing that up Hanley! I've been trying to use a false grip on the rings but it still feels unnatural to me, practice should fix that though

How are you false gripping? Have you been shown it before? It is an unnatural movement at first, but once you get it sussed it's the absolute sh*t!!

Get your grippers from Ironmind if you're going that route. Pretty much guaranteed for life!
