43" Samsung TV for €209

Littlewoods are doing a promotion where if you buy a TV you get €250 back from them.

If you go to their homepage http://www.littlewoodsireland.ie/ you will see the link.

They have a 43" Samsung tv for €459 - so after you get your €250 back it only costs €209.

If you didnt already have a hd tv might be ok. Its only a hd ready tv. Probably old tech

Sounds to good,i cant see any terms on there site and i think you only get €250 back in credit to spend in littlewoods but i could be wrong on that.

Its fine for me - I have a Full HD TV now but its breaking so I need something new - so 209 aint bad.

TV's start from EUR 149 so do you still get EUR 250 back. unlikely.

Very confusing promotion. doubt the OP's price is correct

How do I get the discount to show up? I can't see anything about it. And is it definitely credit only?

Doe not work for me. Tried 2 different TVs, and got no deduction at checkout. Do you actually have to have paid for the item before the deduction shows?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,030 ✭✭✭Soarer

i'D IMAGINE YOU'LL GET A VOUCHER CODE OR SOMETHING TO THE VALUE OF €250.
    STUPID CAPS!

    Anyways, that's what i'd imagine.

As an added incentive, if you use the code 24D7S you'll get 10% off the price of the tv too! So the €459 becomes €413.10, and less the €250 becomes €163.10! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,559 ✭✭✭RoboRat

Its badly worded; I don't think its a 250 euro discount but rather they will credit your account by 250 euro. There could be T&C's attached to that credit that may limit what you can buy or whether you have to spend a certain amount with that credit but they don't specify this... in fact they don't actually specify anything!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,831 ✭✭✭irishproduce

Interesting, was going to buy a TV in Argos but this seems like a brilliant offer, €250 would be handy especially at Xmas time if one were to leave it in their account until then, actualkly that would save me visiting Argos at Xmas too :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,987 ✭✭✭_Whimsical_

I have a smaller version this tv and its excellent. The usb media player is fantastic, it plays any file I throw at it on a usb key and that feature is extremely handy.
From the blurb it does look like you get littlewoods credit btw.

I wonder is it like their current UK promotion:
    TV’s cash back

    25% cashback offer
*This is a Buy Now Pay Later promotion. This Buy Now Pay Later offer is only available when purchasing all 40” and above TV’s between 13.07.12 – 26.07.12. This is an online only offer. The 25% cash back will appear on your account within 45 days from the end date of the promotion or the despatch date, which ever is later. If the item purchased is returned the cashback will be reversed and the monies deducted from your account. For Buy Now Pay Later, Quote 27ZG5.

    Buy Now Pay later
This Buy Now Pay Later is subject to the stated minimum cash order value, account status and is only available with interest bearing terms. Interest will be calculated for the deferred payment period plus the repayment period. You can avoid any interest by contacting us and paying the cash price in full before the end of the deferred payment period. All Financial Services products and delivery/installation charges are excluded from this offer, which is valid until 31.08.12

I just rang them. The person on the phone was unable to find the promotions details or terms and conditions. She said she would call me back one they find it.

She did say though that it clearly states that you get €250 to spend with them (and not up to €250) and it was on any TV. So it should be added to your account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,074 ✭✭✭sok2005

I also wonder if it applies to people who do not want a credit account with them but would pay all at once?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,407 ✭✭✭✭justsomebloke

not bad, even if it is just €250 credit back. For €300 you can get a 32" HD ready TV and PS3 which would be a decent enough gaming set up for most people at that price

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,531 ✭✭✭patch

Just ordered the 32inch sharp for 299.
If i dont get the credit applied to my account, I wont accept delivery.:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,514 ✭✭✭Dermo

Can anyone confirm this actually works.

I rang them up and the woman on the phone was completely unhelpful and just passed it off as an Upto €250 savings off the price and not €250 credit back with any tv as the ad actual says.

The way I read that is that they're having a bit of a sale and you could get a TV for up to €250 euro cheaper.

Then there are various amounts knocked off TV's there and thats your discount ie Was €619.00 Now €489.00 Save €130.00

How the OP even came to the conclusion that they were refunding 250 from any telly is beyond me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,102 ✭✭✭DylanII

The way I read it was the they are giving you €250 to spend with them when you buy any tv. It does not say up to €250 or on some TV's.

Some of the TV's already have over €500 knocked off the price.

Well I can't find any tvs offering exactly €250 of a reduction so I can see how the OP came to the conclusion. Surely as one of the tvs is offering a saving of €500, the promotion on the homepage would read "Save €500 to spend with us
Either way I wont be purchasing from Littlewoods since I am still waiting on my Balmoral Dining Table + 6 Chairs ha :)

I came to the same conclusion as the OP when I saw it. It says "Save €250 to spend with us when you buy any TV". So I'm guessing the they give you €250 credit back or a voucher to spend on littlewoods.

It's worded "Save €250 to spend with us when you buy a tv". The OP wasn't grabbing at straws, it doesn't sound like they are offering up to €250 off tv's at all imo.

I take it as getting vouchers worth 250 once you buy a tv. Although it could be just a coupon book valued up at 250. No details about the promo is weird

Just got this reply from them:

This is a sale we have on at the moment for TV's so you can save up to €250 on them. :)

So it is just some tvs are reduced.

    Terribly worded..

 I'm on hold to them atm...

In the meantime, what do people think of the LG 42" full HD LCD for not too much more?

Since we're always bickering about "full HD" vs "HD Ready".

Oh, and both are Saorview-compatible, before someone gets that one in... :D

[Edit: Well, noone in their head office in the UK knows anything about it. They're going to look into it and ring me back, but "it might take a few days"...]

Small claims court with that Litlewoods TV sale advertizement and your TV purchase reciept.

Get your 250 euro that way, plus the court application money and also any extra money for undue stress and strain you were put under.;)

"Save €250 to spend with us"

Sounds like you buy a TV for full price and the amount that they are saying that you save on the TV you get back in vouchers.

So for a TV for €600 with a saving of €200 - you pay €600 and get €200 in vouchers.

    Sounds like a bs promo

it doesn't sound like that at all, it doesn't say anywhere "up to €250".
It does say €250 which one would assume means you get €250 littlewoods credit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,794 ✭✭✭chillywilly

It sounds like you could save €250 by buying a TV reduced in price, then they are suggesting that you should spend the money you have save on Littlewoods products??!?!

That's my take on it anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,625 ✭✭✭Thor

It's not really saving money if it's credit with littlewoods.

This is truly terribly worded or just plain false advertising to get people to buy.

Either that or it's a great deal, but to be honest, if it's too good to be true and blah blah blah the rest.

Point is, Littlewoods is always a rip unless you use the 20% discount code. So I doubt very much they are giving such a good deal.

Had the same problem with DID over a fridge freezer.
When I proved to them that I could get the fridge freezer cheaper elsewhere,I went to buy it from them and I asked for my extra discount/money off.

Just as I was about to pay,I was told Id get 50 euro worth of DID vouchers and not money off the actual price.

I asked the lad to take the fridge freezer off the trolley, and I left it there at the cash till,in front of 3 other customers.

I told the manager quite politely but loud and firmly (so that other customers could listen),that I wasnt going to accept vouchers and this stupid carry on/false advertising from DID.

He asked me to come into his office to discuss the matter some more.

I said no to him and also said,"you just lost yourself a customer".

I left the shop and one of the customers who heard what I had said, told me that I was dead right to walk out.

He would do the same too,if it were him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,056 ✭✭✭✭BostonB

Sounds like 250 for future purchases with them. Not 250 off a telly. The vouchers are probably time locked so you don't get the full amount in one go I'm guessing.

My Mistake it was actually Debenhams that has the same customer service number as Direct TV in the uk

Si Deus Nobiscum Qui Contra Nos

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭chasm

I bought a tv off Littlewoods last week a panasonic and ended up cancelling...

The customer phone number on the littlewoods website is the same phone number for the customer service of DirectTV .co.uk who do ship to Ireland and the tv was a bit cheaper again from them but they would not offer the 5 year panasonic warranty which Panasonic are currently giving free with there TVs as a promotion.

Funny thing is Direct TV offers the promotion on there website, just found it puzzling how Littlewoods Ireland Customer service number is direct TVs number in the UK...

Litttlewood ireland customer service number is 01 8112222, i don't see that number anywhere on the direct tv site.

Littlewoods said on facebook that it was a sale they had on with up to €250 off TVs (despite the fact that there tvs with €500 off!) but i think they have messed up somewhere as littlewoods UK are offering 25% cashback on all TVs 40" or above (and there's a few T&Cs).
I've emailed them to ask what the terms of the offer are, as it is very badly worded IMO
    This is the UK offer:

I think the best you will get out of this deal is the same as the Save €50 in Supermacs. where you will get loads of €25 off household items when you spend €100 vouchers

Until we know what the T&C are, its not a bargin

DID promotion is if you buy the product and you find it cheaper elsewhere you get double the difference. This diffrence is supplied by way of DID vouchers - its in their literature instore and online. Its to ensure that customers who buy a product and find it discounted elsewhere don't feel aggrieved, which IMO is not a bad idea.

I have gotten this from them before and I was quite happy to accept the vouchers when they had the product cheaper 3 days later in an advert. They don't have to offer this and its not their fault that you jump to conclusions.

Anyhow, back to littlewoods, if its a case of the savings are up to 250, then its really badly worded.

I kinda have to agree with ted1 here. theres no way on earth littlewoods would ever give u back €250 for yourself. I would reckon its like xtravision vouchers, you probably arent going to get one single 250 voucher either.
Dont be surprised if you get 10 x €25 vouchers or something like that.
Surely the sale in tescos would represent a better deal as you could put your money back vouchers off your gas bill
