Whats the interior like? black leather electrical seats I believe?

how did they manage to steal it? did they break into your house?

Those TDI RS4 are all over the place indeed... Good to know though, I have been missing the last couple of meetings in Laoise... I feel better now knowing you wont have problems finding someone to let you drive it. ;)

A WW Grey RS4 will be noticable a mile away, trust me, if it is out there and it is in my line of sigth I will see it!

A car like that is either stolen to order for parts, on the first ferry abroad or stolen to be used in a robbery. Either way with a fairly unique reg and if being used in a robbery it is probably layed up somewhere secure until the heat dies down and it is needed. Will of course keep an eye out for it but I doubt very much it will be out and about on the road.

Hope it does get back to it's owner unharmed.

I know what ya going thru
My glanza was robbed twice on me after puttin loads of work into it was forced to sell it t stop cnuts gettin it
I know a glanza isnt close to same class as rs4 but any stolen car is the worst

OP, really hope you get you're car back just the way you left it. People who stole it are absolute *****.

On another point, what do people usually do with their car keys when their car is parked outside their house. I always have my keys in my pocket. The only time i wouldn't have them on my person would be when I'm in bed etc and still they would be just beside me.

I'm guessing in this day and age with new cars, the only way to steal a car is either to get the keys or put the car on a flat bed truck ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,360 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Really depends on the car in question and the type of thief you are dealing with.

Your average scumbag just out to joyride will try to avoid confronting anyone for the keys so will probably look for things like wallets, money, car keys or anything light to carry and easy to sell, downstairs.

Your hardened career criminal who has specifically broken into your house to take the car will probably look dowstairs and then go upstairs. They probably don't care who is in the house at the time and are well versed in using violence as a way of getting what they came for.

If you have any sort of desireable car then best leave the keys downstairs, not in view but not too difficult to find either. Remember the car is insured and can be replaced, you or your family cannot.

No one appeared with a dodgey stuck on reg in my apartment complex carpark, looks like yours but doesnt have the any stickers or rs4 badges. With no tax or insurance info on window, even with an english reg I though that would be needed on the window.

    Got my suspicions up.

I think you should trust your gut there and call the law and contact the OP via PM.

While these threads are very helpful to a point it is not beyond the realms of possibility that the scum bags responsible are logging in here too.

About an hour ago in my underground car park, the reg I have just checked was an northern reg car which comes back as an rs4

Check the speedometer if it is in mph then it is likely a UK car

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,793 ✭✭✭coolisin

I've just checked it's gone now, but it was missing the rs4 grill badge and looked like it was nicely removed, I wanted to have a proper snoop but was pulled away by my missus as leave the nice car alone, was only when I saw the pics on this thread did 2+2= something.

But the reg did come back as an rs4 even if it looked like it was barely hanging on.

I'm sorry op for being so relaxed over this.

OP Last year a mate of mines Audi was stolen from Tyrellstown and it was found in Mulhuddart Woods just parked up. Have a drive round some of the quieter estates and apartment complexes and see if you can see it around.

So what do u think coolisin? Is the car officially/legally registered as rs4 in uk?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,883 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

Coolisin - they could very easily have gotten the reg of an RS4 in the UK and, taken off the OP's plates and put on UK plates. The fact that it had no tax/NCT info on the windscreen wouldn't raise suspicion with the Gardai. You could very well have seen the OP's car for feck sake!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,830 ✭✭✭RandomAccess

No RS4's seen today, spotted a nice M3 V8 Saloon though, so my eyes are peeled

And I know its too late in this case but if anyone else on here owns an RS4 get a tracker fitted before its too late! And perhaps get your windows engraved with the Reg to foil cloning.

    In other ideas,
Perhaps we could setup some form of verified members area where we can pick an estate or two near ours and do a quick drive through?
It would reduce the amount of ground that the OP might need to cover..
I will look for something on google maps..

Something like neighbourhood watch or a boards equivalent of an APB..

One final thing, perhaps we could rope in the instructors from the Learning to drive sub forum, they drive through estates with learners all the time and some of them are bound to be car savvy..
