Some Criterion, however you will need a Region A or Region Free player for these. Posted elsewhere.

    User comment on Amazon.de:

Diese Schmucke JAWS-Edition wird von Amazon (exklusiv!) für sage und schreibe 99,99 Euro angeboten! Sie enthält die BluRay in der Dose (18,99€), das Buch "Memories from Martha's Vineyard' (28,95€), 6 Fotokarten (Artcards) und eine schicke Pappschachtel. Macht 52,05 Euro für 6 Fotokarten und ne'Pappschachtel! Das ist doch mal ein Schnäppchen!!!

Which basically translates that if you buy all items in that set seperately, you pay €52,05.

Amazon price for the set: €99.99

Get a US Blu-ray player. Or a multi-region player, although I think they are quite expensive.

I love the artwork on the Bluray sleeves in the Avengers box set but I couldn't justify the price. Especially when you add on the delivery charges.

I like that Prometheus box too but it would look out of place along side my other Blurays.

Don't think multi-region Blu-ray players even exist yet.. though could be wrong!

The Phase One boxset is the tits!

My favourite boxset I own has got to be Seinfeld (with coffee book).

I got a mate to pick up a Panasonic for me in the US and ship it to me. You will need a up/down transformer unit though. They will cost around €50 or you could try and source a Region A&B Player from the UK.

You can get a Region A&B player for sure. But with the firmware updates frequent enough the player would require software updates. I would just import a Region A player.

It's an amazing set... paid close to €100 for it (and t was a great price at that) but it's been as cheap as €45 (albeit one day only).

Is that the complete collection of just season one?

No, it's all 9 seasons / 32 DVD's / 190 episodes and an extra DVD with an round-table interview with the cast and Larry David).

And that coffee table book is superb.. 226 page book containing synopsis / quotes / trivia about every single episode and the show's inception.

Don't think the boxset is available anymore unfortunately!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,793 ✭✭✭coolisin

You'd be better off getting an A player.
You might find one that doesnt need an up down transformer.

Some of those special edition boxes look cool, is that the game posted by bullseye1 that box looks great.
I like the prometheus one its really cool.

The seinfeld box set is great aswell.

I believe the OPPO Blu Ray players are easy enough to make region free. They are meant to be cracking players as well.

bought lost when it was finnished and said i treat myself to the US speical edition, cost i think E130-150
    51YBEEb%2BLvL.jpg

also have 2 or the 3 special extended editons of The Lord of the Rings, missing part 1,
    movies-ersty%29-5372s.gifl.gif
    LOTR-EXTENDED-DVD.jpg

also have some nice neat sets of The West Wing, The Sopranos, Battlestar Gallactica, and OZ and the tin sets of Band of Brother and The Pacific, none are limited editions or anything but i do like having complete sets i stopped buying series as each season became available years ago, i just wait for complete boxsets now,

i also have a cool Friends set that ive never seen anywhere before, got it on eBay, i certain its a fake but all the episodes are there, so i cant complain, its a yellow book with 4 discs on each page so each page is a different season,

guys if your looking for a cheap multiregion bluray player i recommend a ps3 (cheap second hand one if you can) and a cobra usb dongle...

Works perfectly as a multi region blu rays player, allows you to select what region blu ray you want to watch.....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,731 ✭✭✭Bullseye1

Can you PM me details about that dongle?

I'm really liking digibooks/blu ray books now. It's seems that they put way more effort into them than steelbooks now days. Also they don't just release any and every film they can like steelbooks, there are actually some great classic and modern titles. They don't try and sell them for ridiculous prices on ebay, the price stays pretty consistent. I haven't seen alot of digibooks go for over 25 quid.
one of my favourites is the sting digibook :

    Nope, DVD unfortunately.

Don't think it was released on Blu-ray, and don't know if there are plans to.

Probably not, not needed in HD ... I'd imagine it wasn't even filmed in HD..

Every major network TV show was filmed in a show capable of Blu-ray..

.. even Star Trek: The Original Series back in the late 60's.

Film is on a much higher resolution than DVD / Blu-ray - it's then essentially downgraded for broadcast / DVD / Blu-ray.

interesting, I knew 35mm is well capable of HD (and more) but thought
US comedy in the late 80's, 90s would have been filmed on tape ...

The quality is ****e, even the DVDs look dodgy..

    You mean Seinfeld?

I find the early seasons aren't great, but later seasons are fine!

Yeah or in general TV from that era ... like the Star Trek the next gen DVDs are well dodgy, I know there is a massive project to get the original negatives and transfer them to HD, in fact afaik the 1st season is complete ....

edit - yes it is !! hmmmmm i might just purchase these :) !

Just realised my blu-ray player that i bought in tesco for €90 is multi-region on blu-ray awesome!
You can change what region via a menu.

That i-robot one is really expensive. That will be cheaper sooner rather then later.

I'd imagine alot tv programs would've being digi-beta tapes rather then 35mm surely?

Make sure it's not just multi-region for DVD (Region 0-8 / ALL)..

    .. multi-region for Blu-ray would be (A, B, C / ALL).

I'd say it's unlikely to be Region Free for Blu as they're quite expensive.

No can do both, i couldn't believe it either, but i dont have anything to try it with, but 0-8 and another menu for ABC.

I bought this set and was distraught when I realised that seasons 3 and 4 were locked for Region 1. I checked up online after thinking my player was hacked for region free but I believe it was only hacked for regular DVDs. 4 seasons (1, 2, 5 & 6) are unlocked as per original release but 3 and 4 for some reason were locked in the original release. This set wasn't made available in the UK AFAIK so buying from the US was essential.

yeah thats the balls of it but thankfully i have a region free DVD player, as usual we get stuck with the sh1t basic versions, well worth the extra bobs and need for region free player though,

end of January for rises release, they would be fools to not cash in with some kind of Box Set,

    batman-begins-tumbler.jpg

the tumbler i think would be easy enough to form and have it open at the front and have the 3 films slide out, have some kind of spring loaded mechanism to push down and up pops the 3 discs, id pay E150 for something that cool:D
