What could happen if you run over a rat?

Hey, I know this may sound weird, but could something happen to tyre if I run over a huge rat? I was driving today on a small road near fields and huge rat like 30cm in length ran onto road, it ran across quickly but I was just wondering if you run it over, would you stop? or would car go skid? I am interested to know what would happen, though I have no interest to try it out.

Ehm, i'd aim for it firstly, manys the rat has fealth the wrath of my firestones :D

    I wouldnt stop,

It wouldnt skid because you'd still have three good points of contact with the road and the rat would only be under the one for a part of a second, unless you lock on the brakes or steer wildly..

Nope, the tyre and suspension absorb much more than a soft rat every time you drive on the road

it will turn into a mat , same if you run over a cat. all their insides will be outside.

Or maybe some of the rat might get stuck above in the spring and your motor will smell like a gut truck for a while..

I'm on numerous motoring forums but funnily enough post and read this one more often than most. Even still it baffles me the questions that will come up here. :pac:

Anything below a sheep will not cause you any harm, and little to the car. above that, it is all about angle and place of impact.

I hid a Deer with a 2001 Astra Wing, A pillar then over the roof. small dent in wing, paintwork a bit scuffed on the roof.

If it was Roland Rat, you might have a slight problem. Or Splinter from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles too

    The car was fine.

It did make an almighty thump as I hit it, I was driving at 80k kph in the dark and it came out of nowhere.

    Your fcuked mate!
That rat would've bitten on the wheel first
Your wheel is gonna grow hairs then the car will start growing hairs on it next thing you know there's a giant rat in your garden
    With 200hp and a bad R-attitude

That was a deer that was hit by a Z4 BMW... Lots of folks on the interweb used to suggest that that was a Kangaroo... But I lived in Australia for 15 years & have hit a big red Roo once in my Landrover, which was fitted with a big Roo bar... Trust me there would be nothing left of a Z4 if it hit a Roo

As for the rat.... I can't believe this has lasted 3 pages... But here goes

I drove over a duck once... I mean clean over it.. Luckily for daffy he wasn't as tall as the ground clearance of a landcruiser

It would morph into a mega rat, and make its way into your bed room at night, and eat you slowly and quietly before going to your fridge for a beer.
