Am I on the right track?

Hello, so I'm 15, about 5.11 in height and 11stone 6pounds.. I look pretty slim however as a lot of this weight is muscle.
Anyway, I can't get the muscle to show as I have a little bit of fat that I just can't seem to get rid of!
I try to go for a run every day, or two and I lift some weights at home every two or three days also.
After hearing a lot about 'couch to 5k' I looked it up and it says 5k should take 30 minutes jog?? I can easily do a 30 min jog without break, I never realised it was 5k though!
.. sooooooooo my question! If I do a 30-60 min jog, say every mon, wed, fri and sun and lift my weights every tues, thurs and sat should I be able to say goodbye to that extra bit of fat? And how long (roughly) should it take?

DIET :: My diet is pretty good.. (for a 15 y/o!)
Breakfast - cereal, usually corn flakes or weetabix
    Lunch - sandwhich usually
Dinner - can vary a lot but usually something including potatoes, veg, chicken etc
Snack - I rarely eat junk food, only 'snack' i'd really have would be something like a biscuit, or toast with some tea in the evening.

    Thanks!

    That diet isn't good.

    Ditch the cereal and bread.

The only protein you've mentioned there is your chicken with dinner. Eat more.

    .
In fairness, it's not that bad - there are 15 year olds with far worse diets than that.

OP, do you make your own meals or are you relying on your Mam for dinners etc.? It looks grand, just don't go overkill on the potatoes. 1 or 2 is fine, but not a bowl of mashed potatoes with roasties on the side:p I'd keep an eye on the cereal, weetabix is grand but ditch the cornflakes. At least with Weetabix you can keep an eye on the portions; but you could be easily eating 100g without realising in a bowl of cornflakes. With the sandwiches, you could change over to wraps - you can get lower cal/carb versions in Tesco also. Nothing wrong with the odd biscuit here and there either, just as long as it's not half a packet every day. Tbh at your weight, I wouldn't be telling you to eat less! Just eat better.

As for the jogging - 30mins isn't necessarily 5k..it depends on how fast you're going! Do you have a smart phone? You can download an app to measure the distance. If not, buy yourself a monitor.

What weight are you lifting and what kind of program are you doing? A few bicep curls every now and then isn't going to make any difference tbh.

But look, one thing at a time. Make a few small changes to the diet; make sure that you're not eating more than you think - it's been posted a million times but www.fitday.com is great, or the myfitnesspal app. Then, look a the running; maybe throw in a few intervals to mix it up a bit instead of just the jogging. And start measuring the distance properly, sure you might only be covering 2k in 30min for all you know at this stage. As for the weights, I presume you're using your own weight at home? There are lots of bodyweight/home workouts you can do - a quick search on here should come up with a few ideas for you :)

With the potatoes, I'd only have one or two, if any! Oh, wraps are a good idea, I'll try that, thanks! Yeah, I'll download that app! :)

I lift 30kg bench press atm. I'd do 3 sets of 10 reps. Then I have 5kg dumbbells that I'd do say 4 sets of 10 reps also.. (I don't do the dumbbells as often though, they're too boring!)

Yeah I was thinking of doing some interval training :)

    Thanks a lot. :)

Replacing one type of bread with different type of bread is not going to help.

You'll see I referred to lower cal/wraps. Easier to come across and slightly better than the bread. Baby steps and all that.

OP, you might also want to search a poster called 'Cardioshootme', he posted at your age a few years ago and had a log here with his training - might be good to have a look at :)

Yeah I do, are they more effective or should I do some of each??
