10-1 Wiggan's bike explodes on the final climb and he rides the rest of way on Froome's back. Where amazingly, despite a 'blistering' attack in the last 200 meters by Evan's, Froome manages to hold his wheel while at the same time ordering a new trophy cabinet from IKEA.

Or...Sagan will puncture at the top of the final climb and wheelie no-hands all the way to the bottom whilst patching and re-sewing his front tub.

Daily Dan on his rest day: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2012/0711/1224319790698.html
On antibiotics, don't fancy his chances today. 33/1 for the stage win, worth a few quid.

Why can't the Independent post Nico's diary first thing as well?

they used to but the stopped, probably trying to get you to buy the paper, funny that.

lovely wine from the vineyard at the bottom of the col du grand colombier Domaine de Bel-Air their mondeuse is great

some steep ramps on the climb but i would have thought too far from the finish breakaway might stay away though

I don't like to read the Independent even when it's available free in work. I'd rather read the Times twice.

Don't you know I'm in Orwell?

It's taken the peloton just over half an hour to do 30km, the day after rest days always seem to have super fast starts!

It will be interesting to see if Team Sky will try and dismantle the peloton going up the the Col du Grand Colombier. It's the first HC climb, so will they be able to perform like they did going up the 1st Cat. La Planche des Belles Filles and the Col de la Croix.

Some good climbers who are a good way back in the GC who could go for the stage win are: Robert Gesink, Sandy Casar, Thomas Voeckler, Vinokourov, Michael Albasini and Dan Martin.

Gesink has been dire, I know he's fallen but he hasn't had the legs on any climb yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 254 ✭✭crumliniano

No sky men in the break. Sagan and Goss are there for the intermediate sprint points. Cav further isolated - you have to wonder if he will stay at Sky. Sky have to do the work though. BMC have two men in the break - may be of assistance to Cadel if they can limit their efforts until he breaks away and catches them.

Sagan is the one who started the break btw

Not a fan of Scarponi but I hope he stays away. He's the highest on GC in the break away.

    Results of 1st climb
Morkov was the Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank rider who was first at the top of the first climb today (not Kroon as previously report).

The points for the cote de Corlier were won by:

    1. Michael Morkov (STB) 5pts

    2. Andriy Grivko (AST) 3pts

    3. Jens Voigt (RNT) 2pts

    4. Thomas Voeckler (EUC) 1pt

Interesting day ahead with such a nice break away.
