Bad Breakfast

So for the last few months I've been having pretty much the same breakfast.

    Oats - 60grams
    Milk - 300ml
    Linseed - 30grams
    Honey - 1 Tablespoon

So decided to try and figure out how many calories were in this breakfast...
    Amount Per Serving

    Calories 487.0

    Total Fat 22.2 g

    Saturated Fat 8.0 g

    Polyunsaturated Fat 9.0 g

    Monounsaturated Fat 5.6 g

    Total Carbohydrate 72.5 g

    Dietary Fiber 14.8 g

    Sugars 33.5 g

    Protein 19.7 g

    Is this breakfast too much?

What else are you eating? Too much is only relative to your overall calorie intake

You will need to work out your calorie intake using myfitnesspal and find out your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), if your intake is above the TDEE then cut the calories back.

Yeah, I wouldn't initially balk at that kind of breakfast as it could easily be slotted into a weight loss diet. If it was 1,000 kcal or more, I'd be concerned that you'd end up being hungry and eating too much later on.

As said, you really need to do the same process with your other meals and work out your total intake.

3 Potatoes + butter for dinner could be anything between 300 and 750 calories depending on the size of the spuds and the amount of butter.

Very little butter was used to be fair, but today I just halved the milk and used water to make up the slack, which brings the breakfast below 400cals.

the numbers there suggest you're using whole milk, change it to Low Fat Super Milk, and you'll cut the total saturated fats for that breakfast in half.
also consider dropping the honey as it probably makes up about half the sugar content of the breakfast, and you've got enough slow release carbs in the oats to keep you going.

I'm not an expert, but I don't think a calorific breakfast is such a bad thing, if it fills you up, and yours looks ok. To be honest, I'd cut back on the potatoes and butter. Also the peanut butter. If you go to the strength and strength sports forum, peanut butter is offen suggested to people who are trying to add more calories to their diets. Its very good for you but also quite calorific.

Also, when you say 2 burgers, do you mean 2 patties, or 2 sandwiches, e.g. bun and burger? What about condiments. They only look small, but ketchup and mayo can add up.

    No this is fine,

aldo it may be slightly higher calories than just a regular cereal with milk or boiled egg with brown bread..

linseed are very good for you oats are good for you honey is good for you

its all healthy so dont worry about the calories its a great start to your day
