Foods to help with dieting?

    Hey

I'm currently dieting and exercising to lose some weight, but I'm becoming extremely sick of just eating plain chicken/turkey with a few vegetables. Normally during the day I'll just eat vegetables/fruit and then in the evening I'll have either a grilled chicken or turkey breast with some grilled vegetables.

At this stage I'm becoming fairly bored of it and I'm just wondering does anyone have any tips on other things to eat?

    Thanks a lot!

You cant live the rest of your life eating plain chicken and veg. As you said, its so boring.

You need to find more recipes / food that are healthy and good for you and taste good so you are
not on a diet, just eating healthy food.

what food do you like ?
There are healthy versions of almost all dishes which are low fat and have plenty of veg.

Decide what you want to eat and buy suitable herbs/ spices / flavourings to add to your food.
    Buy a cook book or

Here are some basic ideas to get you started.

Stir frying the chicken and veg with soy sauce, garlic and ginger. It only takes a small splash of oil.
Cooking a ratatouille with garlic, onion, tin of tomatoes, herbs, mixed veg
Casserole with beef/lamb or chicken with veg and lots of herbs

I'm not a big fan of weight watchers but their website have plenty of recipes that you might like

Thanks a lot huskerdu, that's a lot of help! :D

Actually, ratatouille was on my list to make as I have an Aubergine in the fridge so I'm gonna try that out tomorrow!

As for what I eat.. normally chicken, turkey, beef, potatoes (but I've cut them out for a while to reduce carb intake), and then vegetables. I wouldn't really eat garlics, onions, parsnips, turnips etc though. I don't eat soy sauce either, but there's a nice recipe online for ratatouille without that.. :)

one thing i make in bulk and then freeze portions is veg lasagne.

i use aubergines instead of lasagne sheets, prob need about 2 aubergines, make my own tomato sauce with garlic, pasanda, also put some peppers and celery into it,to bulk it up, i put a small bit of low fat mozzeralla chees on the top shortly before its ready. the only thing thats a wee bit fattening is the white sauce, which i make myself with low fat/skimmed milk and use only very small amounts.

i make enough for 6 or 8 portions, cut it and freeze them. i like to have them then with salad or sweet potato wedges. very handy just bung it in the microwave!

im sure you could make it with quorn or turkey mince too, thats the next thing i will try!

Thanks a lot! :D are sweet potatoes a lot less fattening than normal ones? I've cut out potatoes completely but I'd love to still be able to eat some of them if they sweet ones were healthier :)

I'm currently experimenting with a ketogenic diet, so I'm eating mainly fat, some protein and very very low carb. The food options on this diet are absolutely amazing and I'm seeing better results.

For example, last night for dinner I had 250g steak mince, my own homemade cheese sauce (double cream, cheese, seasoning) mixed with jalapenos and I wrapped it up in two big iceberg lettuce leaves. I ate that at around 7 o clock and I didn't feel even slightly hungry for the rest of the night.

My point is, there are loads of different and interesting options depending on how you decide to eat. I'm finding this a dream come true so far. It mightn't be for everyone but check it out, I'm sure people on here have their own opinions on it too.

i asked the same question here a little while ago, basically i was told that they are a low GI food, lower GI than ordinary potatoes, so they keep you fuller for longer.
i make them when i feel like im missing potatoes! i find even a small amount is enough to satisfy me!!

Try baked butternut squash instead of potatoes.

omg if thats all i was eating i would be bored too, whats stopping you putting a bit of sauce on your veg or chicken? its the amount you eat not little thigns that make it nice for you,

there is so much different foods you can eat and still lose weight...........basically what ive been doing is limiting myself to 1200 calories roughly per day, and you can eat anything as long as its in the 1200 mark but make healthier choices and you will be guaranteed to lose weight each week if you can stick to it.
