It doesn't mention anyone being on the wrong side of the road?
Edit - the video mentions it.

The Huffington Post mentions something about the Vectra swerving across the road, but it's not like he was driving on the wrong side.

    Edit: Ah, the video.

yeah its horrible, I had to make up the map today for the news, there was also a bad crash in Russia. Every weekend I have to do a map showing road deaths. Seems every Friday and Saturday night someone is killed in Ireland, mostly country roads.

that doesn't excuse anyone from driving on the wrong side of the road at speed and driving into someone.

they should stick to driving in their own country like that where its probably commonplace.

    But what actually happened?
I went through all the links in this thread, and couldn't find any info how did the accident actually happened.

She lost an unborn child ,and a two year old toddler, the guy was speeding it came out in a lot of reports, and there were english traffic police on the road who were there to witness events, they said he lost control of the car and in turn veered onto the other side of the road..

a polish guy in a vauhxhall drove head on into an Irish couple in devon, killed two year old child, and the woman's new born is also dead.

A head on smash at 70mph + is unthinkable.

The couple were in the wrong place at the wrong time sadly.

Playing devils advocate here but God knows what goes on in someones head if what's read is to believe. Awful consequences but ffs, you seems to be sensationalising motor related fatalities. If you want to troll, which seems to be your thing, stop making a mockery of a families troubles yet again. You did the same with the lambo crash during the week.

And god love anyone contemplating suicide, it must be a desperate place to be in to be honest.

In fairness, the guy was speeding and (possibly deliberately) drove head on into another car, destroying that young family's lives. He was indeed a prick.

On a side note, the british police complaints commission were brought into this last night. Were the police actually chasing this guy, or was it just because there was a police witness ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,069 ✭✭✭✭CiniO

what a prick, hope he rots in hell.

But how do you know what what was the reason that he swerved into path of other car? (because if I understand correctly that's what happened).
Maybe he was tired and felt asleep. Maybe he lost his consciousness. Maybe he was sick. Maybe his car developed mechanical failure (steering issue).
Maybe he was under influence of alcohol or drugs. Or eventually maybe really he was trying to commit suicide.
We don't know which one is true, so calling someone a prick and hoping for him to rot in hell is bit brave opinion here.

PS. I can't see any relation between what actually happened, and that driver was Polish, as most media put accent on it.
In oppose to what some people might think here, swerving straight onto oncoming car for no reason, is not a common thing on Polish roads.

I'm of the opinion that a mental illness is akin to someone having say a heart attack behind the wheel. Could go on for hours arguing that one I suppose!

All I heard in the news was that it was witnessed by the police. Seems standard enough, same would happen here I believe.

have to agree with above poster Cinio, anything could have happened also the police being there to witness the accident may be a complete coincidence or perhaps he clocked them in the rear view mirror and panicked, no one will know but it said their was heavy rain at the time, that video posted last week showing a red golf veer off after hitting standing water could also be a possibility, at least the onboard camera in the police car may help, the fact he is polish again should not be brought into it, he is in his mid 20s good chance this guy may have come to england as a young lad and learned to drive over there making him no different to a british national. RIP to those involved very sad

yes, why was a police car 'on the scene of that right away'

its strange for them to be right on the nose of a head on smash...

unless they were like chasing the polish guy, he said f**k it lets call it a day and he crashed.

he wasted a couple, in the prime of their life by driving into them on the wrong side of the road and at speed.

where he comes from doesn't matter but anyone who says he was under drugs or had a defective car is bs.

Im sure time will tell on this......and yes, driving in poland and that side of the world is a joke.

Plus you don't drive a Skoda either and it takes 15,000 dentists to change my brake discs so clearly i am right and you drive an inferior car.

    Etc etc :pac:

course its sad.. but the weather should have no real bearing, there may have been surface water but if thats the case there would be several thousand head on smashes in the uk in the last 24 hours given the weather.

Its raining non stop where I am for 3 days now and I don't see any crashes on the motorway which I can see from my window.

Speculating wildly? From what I read a police officer was an accidental witness of what happened, that is all. They were not chasing him

Indeed we do not know. Maybe we will never know. In these terrible times, more and more people find no other way than to commit suicide. Hopefully that wasn't the case here.

Don't agree with the "they were in the wrong place at the wrong time" remarks.
They were on holidays and entitled to be where they were. Where should they have been like!?
The only person in the wrong place was the driver on the wrong side of the road.
    What a senseless tragedy, RIP.

I would wait to hear the full report, i'm still a bit suspicious.

The chances of the Cops being bang on the scene of an accident are pretty rare occurrence.

The cops could have been hush as to the seriousness of the incident.

On the other hand they should have full footage of that on the camera so we should know sooner rather than later.

Sorry Jimbob but that is a ridiculous comment. If what is being said is true, that the man deliberately drove into the other vehicle how could it ever be acceptable? Apart from one twit here no one was being prejudice. It is a fact that the driver involved was polish and the vehicle he was driving was a Vectra.

I personally feel sorry for everyone involved as the whole situation is tragic, but i don't see the point of the thread as nothing has been proven yet and a head on collision can be caused by any number of things all which could theoretically have a strong arguement.

Best to let the authorities find out what happenned before jumping to conclusions when people are recently deceased/fighting for their lives. Honestly it's the sort of thread i would not even expect to find in AO.
