Hi all just wondered if anyone has any advice on getting hair extensions 1 year after chemotherapy?
I have recently celebrated my 1 year post bone marrow transplant on the 4th of july & all back to normal thank god.
My hair is fine, about 1-2 inches long and I have already dyed it twice.
I really want hair extensions for my holidays next month but Im terrified the follicles wont be strong enuf and I will end up with bald patches but ive read a few stories online about other post chemo people who have gotten them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance! :o

Hairspray are great with extensions so I'd recommend you go there and they'll examine your hair and let you know if extensions will hold up okay. There are so many different types of extensions so I'm sure they'll find one that suits your hair :)

I don't know where any are in Limerick (or even if there are any there), but there are 2 in Dublin city center. One on Henry Street and one just off Grafton Street.

Hope you get the long hair you want and have a good holiday :)

Seconding Hairspray for a great range, loads of clip-in extensions so there is no long term commitment if you are worried about hair damage. You can also order online if you aren't near a branch. Also, that's fantastic news about your health, enjoy every minute of your hols.

I have really fine hair too and I did not get extensions after my hair regrew after chemo (over 5 year oesopgageal cancer survivor) - my attitude was that I was getting the chance to see what I was like with hair of differing lengths - having said that my hair is at my bra line now and I keep it long. Hope that you have a great holiday!

I have a friend who recently got hair extensions in. Her hair is quite fine and the extensions were too heavy and broke the hair she did have. If I were to get them I would make sure they are being done by a professional using the lightest weight product. Pay the proper price for them.

The other girl ha to get her hair cut right up into a bob cause of what the extensions did to her hair!

    Congrats on the all clear!

What I would recommend for healthy hair is regular cutting and a hair nails and skin sipplement

Hi all thanks for the advice I got my extensions done on moore street by "charity" a nigerian lady, right next to ilac centre she was lovely and did the weaves loose only €100 and my hair is now elbow length although i was mad to get them done they are very irritating and remind me of wearing a wig so im glad i didnt spend too much on getting them done and I will be taking them out for my holiday. I'm not used to having hair so its high maintainence for me, at least i know know for the future and the hair she gave me is good hair so when i do take them out i can use the hair again.
