I wasnt sure what forum to post this in, feel free to move it if you think it will get better answers in another forum. Apologies in advance if this is not the correct forum for this thread.

I play soccer and I'm looking to get ankle straps and orthotics for my boots and I'm wondering if someone thats had fallen arches/calf/achilles problems could point me towards brands of equipment that they've used and made a difference in their ability to train/run without restricting ankle movement etc.

    Thanks in advance

It took me ages to work out what you're trying to ask here but I think I've got it. You have a problem with your foot turning over too much?

First off if you haven't already you should have a physio examine you to find out what's actually wrong. If you have then unless you have a congenital problem they'll probably have suggested exercises to strengthen your feet. If you haven't been then you really should go. It's expensive but still a lot cheaper than the €300 required for orthotics

If you definitely need orthotics then get them prescribed by a podiatrist or orthotist. Everybody else is basically just stealing from you and that includes physios.

I don't know much about ankle strapping but I would have thought that if you needed it you'd need it just for your own particular situation and would have to be taught how to strap the ankle effectively. The things you buy in shops IME are good for keeping your ankle a bit warmer and not much else.
