Leaving Cert Dreams

I've had three already..! I'm repeating the Leaving Cert. this year and never experienced school exam relate dreams before, despite how much it seems to be a occurrence in tv and films, like it happens to everyone.. does it?!

My first was on English paper two, hectic and rushed, I woke up quoting Sylvia Plath still on my lips..two days after the horrific exam. The worse part was realising, after a few glorious, ignorant seconds, that I had already sat the exam, it felt so real that I was writing a A standard Poetry Question!

Next was a general searching through corridors and coming across random characters in my way while trying to get to a exam while cramming en-route ..and the exam was at night in a convent?!

Last night had another dream, this time referring to Agriculture Science tomorrow.. can't remember what I was studying though..! Could have been sub continuos tips.. lost forever!

Anyone else experiencing dreams about this leaving cert? Any random ones? Anyone remember what they were studying in their dream for AgSc tomorrow?! Do share!

I think I can empathise with you on this one.

I keep on having a dream that there's a HL Maths Paper 3 on the following afternoon. Something to do with there not being enough trigonometry on paper 2. Its very lucid.

I wake up shivering in a cold sweat. Scary stuff alright.

I had a dream that I got my results, but only half of them, and I got a D in German and maths, and 98% in English. :L The English was nice but I was devastated with the others :L

Had a dream last night that i never noticed my music melody was in minor key and it was too late to change it. Sounds insignificant but wow, scared me!

Proud to say never had an LC related dream.
Only thing I dreamt of was a teacher chasing me with a stick.

ya, dreamt that i was outside the exam hall before french talking to someone. all of a sudden i looked up to see that the exam had started and everyone was inside!

LC dreams are always funny when you imagine them happening in real life. I had one before it all started that there were no tables in the exam hall and we had to write with the pages on our laps!

Each night before the maths exams I woke up doing Maths in my head!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,545 ✭✭✭Geo10

I know what you mean by waking up quoting things!! I woke up this morning unconsciously mumbling a chemistry equation (I had my Chem exam yesterday). I forget what I dreamt about but I must have been studying chemistry!!

Before the LC I had a dream I remember vividly. I was in my geography exam and we were given our project booklets to fill out! I couldn't remember what my project was about and my teacher was sneaking me handouts so I could fill it out!

I had a dream that everyone was doing Englihs paper 1 and I was playing tag with my friends.

Had a two nice dreams about French after the orals, and a bad one about Irish, I think. Can't really remember. None about the exams so far.

Last year I realised thirty days before the results that the results were, well, thirty days away, so for most of the last month before the results I woke up every morning with the results on my mind. 'Twas annoying! :P

About three weeks after the actual exams I had a dream that they all went horrendously, can't remember much detail.

Hopefully I won't have too many this year, some of them are just ridiculous! :pac:

I had a dream last night that I forgot there were two papers for maths, english and irish and that I only went to the paper 1's and stayed at home for the paper 2's took me a while after I woke up to realise it was a dream too! :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,989 ✭✭✭PictureFrame

I've had no dreams! And now, i'll have no dreams for the future.. :pac: lol

I dreamt i was late for English paper 1 and missed the bus, but no-one from my family cared enough to bring me in. So i started running, and as you do, i started flying. I couldn't stop and kept going past the centre and ended up drowning in the lake. I woke up in a ball of sweat and had to change my bedsheets

Is anyone else having crazy weird post-LC dreams? The other night I dreamt that I got 67 points and I didn't get enough for baking in DIT. My mother was so ashamed of me :P
Another one I had was I was sitting the Ag Science paper again, but they changed the layout without telling us. We also had to match up names and faces of the writers in the Farmers Journal.
Some of my dreams have been really freaking me out though, I just want to forget about the exams but of course I now have to deal with them in my sleep

Share your dreams here, especially if they're funny! :D

Weird, I had my first dream about this year's Leaving Cert last night! Dreamt I got less points than last year. :( Not exactly funny 'cause it's a possibility, but I'm sure I'll have some daft ones in the next few weeks! :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 406 ✭✭AnnaKin

Yes. Four specificly freaky ones. My major one was me getting 33 points in every subject except french, in which i got 66. I believe the rest of that dream was me crying because i had no college to go to. I woke up feeling miserable too :o :pac: At least I'm not the only one!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 923 ✭✭✭biohaiid

Had one last night that I hadn't sat the music exam yet, and only had 4 days left to study for it.
Was quite funny, cos' for the real exam I only started studying night before.

Dreamt that I got mixed up with the timetable and missed an exam as a consequence.
The best thing about these LC dreams is the UNREAL sense of relief when you wake up!

I had my first one a couple of nights ago. . .
I'll set the scene. It was a nice sunny day in August and I was walking into school to get my results. The teacher made no comment as she gave me my envelope, even though she said something nice to other girls receiving theirs. So I had a bad feeling already. Anyways I open it up, and I scan the grades quickly, but then I realise there are no grades there. There are comments instead.
e.g. "She didn't even know how to spell "x"."
"She didn't even know what "x" meant. Idiot." etc
Anyways I woke up feeling bad until I realised it was only a dream which makes no sense anyways :pac: :o

I was dreaming that i was back at the beginning of the leaving cert, the night before english and i cudnt shake off the overwhelming feeling that i was going to fail everything. I hate dreams

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31 SD021

I haven't had any since the leaving but before we started I had a few. The worst was that I got 600 points but I failed Irish and couldn't go to college :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 Mister Bates

Now that people have had time to reflect, is anyone else thinking back at how they did? I keep adding up the different amount of points i could have got on my calculator. I must have done this nearly a thousand times. Im going insane. Ive actually dreamt myself doing this to make matters worse. I just want the damn results already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,249 ✭✭✭Bears and Vodka

Yeah I count up my possible points every now and then. Even got an app for it :P

    P.S. I enjoyed your username.

    I'm not alone :pac:

I've been having them on and off since the Leavin', and they're more nightmares than dreams! Usually I just keep repeating the exams although they're different every time, and sometimes I sit down and I'm handed weird papers such as Ancient Greek and Latin and I've no idea how to do them :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭LostBoy101

I'm glad I didn't have any post-LC dreams and I hope it stays that way but I'd doubt that after reading this :pac:

I had a dream last night that we got our results back in a message in a bottle, we all had to go to the beach to get them, except the beach that my year went to was really tropical? :L I dunno it was weird.

The other night I had a dream that I had to sit the physics paper again, I was SO annoyed because I knew I wouldn't do as well as the first time round :L

I had a dream the day before the Leaving Cert that I was in my Accounting exam and knew none of the answers and was freaking out!

    I don't do accounting.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 843 ✭✭✭Whatsernamex33

Keep on having the same one about geography, that I was sitting it again but there was questions I had never seen in my life... Yeah. :/ Nothing special. That's about it xD

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 153 ✭✭Raeone

I had a dream that I was doing my home economics exam and it was at the end and the examiner was coming and giving me all the answers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 noname123

Five or six days before, I had a dream that I missed English paper one.
I was distraught and began crying. I went on into the street and I was in Paris. I rode away on a motorcycle.

It made no sense but the sense of relief was amazing

I had a dream about a week ago that we were called back to resit the biology paper! Weirdly enough we were doimg the exam in this big church or monastery (with those cloisters) and it had all those edco codes on it. Everyone was just looking up rge answers on their phones but my wifi wouldn't work :(
I know what you mean about the AMAZING sense of relief when you realise it was just a dream!! :D

I hate trying to predict my points by the way because I'm sometimes really mean to myself (and the total calculated points depress me!) and when I'm nice to myself I know I'm just getting my hopes up! My mam keeps asking me what I think I got in everything and what I think are my definite As. I'm always like I'm not going to get any As! I've come to the conclusion that it's better to tell yourself and everyone else that you did really bad because then if you do not so well you won't be disappointed and if you do really well you'll be even happier! :)

I dreamt that when I opened the biology paper it was all physics, and then thinking damn, I haven't done any of this before!

Had a bit of a strange one the other night about my actual results. Opened the envelope in my old English Classroom and saw the following:

    Irish- B2
    English- B2
    Maths- B2
    French- 54.5%
    Geography- 0.00%
    Economics- 89.5%
    Business- 100%

:pac: No sign of Music or LCVP however. It was a bit random to say the least! But, the one good thing. Even if I really did that bad I would of gotten 395 points :P. And my 3rd choice! Arts! :P my safety blanket!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,391 ✭✭✭Mysteriouschic

I remember I had one about me getting into my first choice uni :).
I had another that I woke up late for my business exam and missed it and got an F in the results .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 jenifa

    I had another one.

Last night I dreamt I went back to repeat my leaving cert.. again, and I went back to a all girl school. In my dream there was a Jewish girl in my class that everyone picked on except for me and this other girl because 'that's racist!'

But then my word didn't hold value against the bullies, because I was repeating my leaving cert..again. :(

When do I have the dream that I'm in university?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 jenifa

I had another one last night, I already started a thread dedicate to LC dreams after I had a horrific English paper 2 dream. In that one, I wrote a perfect Sylvia Plath A1 standard answer and felt so happy..only to wake up and slowly remember that she didn't come up in the REAL exam.. :'(

Last night I had another in which I went back to repeat the leaving Cert. Again. But this time in a all girl school. I felt in my dream that it was the right thing to do in order to get law in Trinity.. although no one respected me in class, despite being the only adult. But when has that ever worked for teachers I suppose..!

I feel confused now... do I repeat ..again?!

Did the LC last year, still have nightmares once every 2-3 weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 265 ✭✭Nicole.

I've had a few Leaving cert dreams, none during the exams just before and after.

Once I had a dream that my Home Economics teacher was chasing me around the school because I left my tv and xbox on standby and we were learning about energy efficiency.

Two nights ago I dreamt that I got horrible results, a D in English (my best subject) and Ds in everything else. It was because in my dream they didn't correct our exams in relation to a marking scheme first time round. They only corrected them using a marking scheme the second time around.

I've had a few more, if I remember them, I'll post again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,305 ✭✭✭Chuchoter

I never had them before the leaving but now I'm getting them all the time. Mostly about English, where the paper keeps changing and I'm running out of time. Had one the other day where I got 59% in Physics which was disastrous (and wholly possible :S )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 976 ✭✭✭NinjaDucks

I had a horrid nightmare about English wherein I wrote my letter all in French, and for the poetry I wrote about Plath instead of Kavanagh. S: when I woke up I really believed I did that, and I had to stave off tears for about half an hour before I drifted back to sleep. It was horrible. :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,572 ✭✭✭Canard

    I had a dream that I got a C2 in English (my best/second best subject) and my teacher was just like "haha, sucks to be you". I was so crushed. ;_;

Then I had one last night that I was celebrating being finished and then had to do them all again and I was like why did I celebrate, how did I forget about round 2? :pac:

I had one where I went in for business and I was chuffed because it was my last exam and then it ended up being "French Paper II", where we had to compose French music and I was freaking out because I want an A1 in French and obviously had never done French music composing. Oh god, the relief when I woke up. :')

The last one I remember at the moment was that I didn't study in between the exams and did pretty badly as a result. I was studying JC history and geography because they were more relaxing? :pac: Then later in the dream they let me resit the geography exam (the real one - the nightmare itself :P) because I'd been so pissed off after it, and because I didnt study, I'd forgotten all the stuff I was dying to write about in the mid-latitude question I'd been expecting. It was heartbreaking. :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,545 ✭✭✭Geo10

I had a dream last night that we were getting our "Official" Junior Cert results in my primary school. My old art teacher was giving them out and they were these multi-coloured sheets. They had what grade we got in each section of each exam, so after each subject you'd see something like "CDBCEFD". I remember getting all terrible results in all these weird subjects I didn't do like "teapot studies". I kept crying on my dream saying "but I did the ACADEMIC subjects!" and my teacher was laughing at me. it was horrifying cos I woke up thinking "I wish the provisional JC results were the real ones"... before realising that they were! :) the relief!

It's weird that I had a JC dream rather than an LC dream!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 445 ✭✭imelle

i had a dream the other night that i was getting my results, i opened the report card and it said "we weren't bothered correcting two of your papers but here's €50 instead."

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,813 ✭✭✭Togepi

Had a very short and detailed results dream last night (the first I've had!).  The sheet said:

    French:  A2
    Irish:  B2
    Phys/Chem:  B2
    English:  C1  :(
    Maths:  C1  :pac:
DCG:  C2  (I don't remember seeing my DCG result on the page but, a C2 makes sense for the next part.)  :P

Points:  480  (It actually said this on the page.)

That's all I remember from the dream, it was only a few seconds long.  :pac:

I've predicted that there's no way I'll get over 480, so my subconscious is clearly very optimistic.

Brain, Y U NO forget about the results?!  :o
