When will global population start to be controlled ??

When do you think global population control will hit every continent, not just China :

USA
Europe
everywhere basically

We take the piss out of China for doing this but realistically we can't support a massive population so when will this start to hit us ?

We're running out of food / resources / fuel / land etc...

It's only a matter of time before it will have to come in, probably not in our lifetime

Thoughts anyone ??

i don't know but what i do know is if we lived by necessity rather than want we wouldn't have to be thinking about it for a long time.

it has already started in most western world countries.

the average family amongst 20 - 40 year old's now consists of 2 -3 children compared to the 8 - 9 kids our grand parents generation had.

Most of the countries in the 'western world'/Russia etc are in population decline. The UN has reports descibing it as a ticking demographic timebomb. For example with something like the next 50 years, the population of Germany is set to drop by 20% odd. China's population is also predicted to decline in the not too distant future, as is India's IIRC.

The only stuff we are running out of is the vast quantities left to rot becuase of quotas that are in place to keep the economy "competitive."

The problem is down to management of resources, not a lack, or impending lack of them.

There is a major population decline in many developed country's actually.

The majority of the growth is in third world countries. The very places where they cannot afford more kids.

It's probably more about how much we consume. So families in the West may have less kids but I think one American or European consumes the same amount as 350 Bangladeshis or something along those lines.
It's not going to stop, humans are ridiculously greedy by nature so we'll consume and consume until stuff starts to run out, war, blah blah. We're f*cked, enjoy it while you can, anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.

Well at the rate things are going, there won't be many white Europeans left if we continue to have our average of 1.7 baby's and the Muslim Europeans continue to have an average of 6 baby's.

Better start figuring out which direction Mecca is in.

Population ultimately is self regulating - if the water and food can't sustain growth then isn't any. Which leads to point two - there will be movement just as there always has been (or this would still be an empty island) but only a few % of the total population of the third world (can we still call it that?) do actually up sticks to the first world as most of course don't have the means. They simply move around the locally, so its another poor but slightly less impoverished country/region that feels the pressure.

The current population growth rate in Europe is 0.098 % (figure from 2010)
This is predicted to turn into negative growth within the next few years.
I think it was David Attanborough who, when asked how he would solve the problem of human overpopulation, said something like "Educate women. Women will for the most part not have 7 or 8 children when they know they have a choice"

Here in Europe, education is open to all. As for the third world, its simply not our problem. Cut all aid and let them sort themselves out. Western interference does more harm than good.

I'm not too sure you read my post, I'll give you a quick summary :

Europe does not have a problem with overpopulation, its population will start shrinking.
If you want to solve the problem of overpopulation, educate the female half of the population.

I'm not sure how I feel about population control, but I do think China's way of dealing with things is very, very wrong.

I agree that the fact that those in the 1st World consuming so much more than the poorer countries is a huge issue and far more worrisome than over population.
