    Hi everyone
I hope someone here can help me. I started taking seroquel about 18 months
ago. I take it for unipolar which is a type of bipolar that is without highs its at its best below normal mood to an extreme depression of the deepest despair. One of seroquels side effects is serious weight gain and this in itself is depressing . I watch what I eat I exercise I followed weight watchers to the letter but whatever I eat goes to fat. I am now 14 stone and a half from being 11stone I am 5ft 7in I have never been so big. Has anyone had the same experience experience? Has anyone got any advice for me, ideas ? I really want to solve this problem it makes my depression worse and my self esteem is at rock bottom. My psychiatrist believes the benefit to my mood outweighs my weight problem no matter what I say.

There are alternative medications out there,im a manic depressive and i take abilify now,its a drug for bi polar that is symptomless(they are new to the market so a little more expensive)i did take other drugs such as lithium camicolt etc,and they piled the weight on me..

Talk to your psychiatrist and tell him/her,be honest about how the weight gain makes you feel, maybe you havent brought it up with him yet..

Maybe there is other things you can do,going for long walks in the evening, and drinking fat burning supplements(ask about them in your local health food shop),and take CLA booster (i have) and i find it works on me..

For me its anything sugary or full or carbs. I eat fine during the day but after I take seroquel at night, I tend to wake and eat anything to hand. Impulse control re food is completely gone
