    Hey All

This might be a stupid question, but are Food Intolerance Tests the same as an allergy test? Or if one was to get an allergy test, do they test you for food allergies while doing it?

Need to get one done, any one been? Any recommendations?

Who is doing the intoerance test and can you describe what methods they use? The reason I ask is that there are a lot of 'woo woo' quacks out there using tests that have no basis in science (or indeed, reality)

Was going to get it done in a pharmacy. Heard an ad on the radio about one, either that or a doctor

    Hi there

My doctor suspects i have an intolerance to wheat.... So she recommends i take a pinprick blood test. This can b done at any mcauley chemist as they are now agents for the fitzwilliam clinic in dublin. Will let u know how i get on....i trust in it since the gp recommended it!

    Hey there

Got my reults back and yes i'm intolerant to dairy, gluten and egg whites. So along with d results i got a book to guide me on how to change my diet...impressive. Anyhow i will also be having a celiac test which i've suspected i may have for years. I will also b referred by my gp to a nutritionist. So all in all i'm finally getting somewhere so i do recommend d test.

I'm incredibly surprised that your gp would recommend you get one of those tests done. They have absolutely no scientific validity. The only valid way to tell an intolerance is avoidance and provocation. As in avoid the substance for 4 weeks and then re-introduce and journal symptoms, even better if you can repeat the test a few times.

I have no doubt you'll feel better if you follow that diet though, it will cut out 99% of processed food and you'll eat a lot healthier as a result.
