Selecting running shoes

Ive always worn asics shoes as they last the longest and I've never suffered from injuries unlike the times long ago I used Adidas and Nike runners. My current asics are now nearing the end of their life and I'm looking to replace them but the mind boggling array of asics shoes alone has me confused. The shop assistants are pretty clueless and of no help.

I need good cushioning and I know I pronate inwards on my right foot especially so I need a shoe that can handle both of these requirements.

    Any opinions?

Why change a shoe if you are injury free running in them?Just get a newer pair!!!
I would personally go to a running store not a general sports shop,Elverys,Lifestyle etc if you are any bit unsure, expert advice is always welcome when buying running shoes.

Running shoes are like cars, they bring out a new model every year. At the moment, asics have about ten different models. My current shoe is out of production so I don't know what it's replacement is.

What shop would you recommend as I too don't like champion, lifestyle etc where the clientele is more fashion conscious than exercise orientated:rolleyes:

Amphibian King and Runways are 2 that are well recommended on the ART forum here...

What sort of running do you do, Mostly roads , Forest roads and trails, cross country ?

Also a good running shop will be able to reccomend which runners will suit your pronation etc, when i bought my last pair i got it checked on a treadmill with a slow motion camera to watch your feet.

I avoid roads if possible as sooner or later, I start to feel my knees and back get stiff (old injuries from my youth which was a long time ago:o), and so my running is on grass along the Grand Canal or lately on a treadmill in the gym.

I've seen a treadmill/camera set up in the Lifestyle in Blanchardstown but I'd be dubious that the staff there would know what they're doing. Last week I had to disturb them from their chatting, mobile phone use to ask them if they sold running shorts for my 12 year old:rolleyes:

Highly reccomend going into Elverys and get a gait analysis done (That's the treadmill you seen in Lifestyle). They know their stuff in there. I went into the blanch shop n got it done. Both my legs move differently and position differently when impacting with the ground. I wanted runners that would reduce the impact with the ground but also stabilize my running. The staff were very helpful and instead of making a sale and recommending any runner they advise I should go into the manager in Elverys in town and speak to him. He was a serious runner and was able to help me out with what I needed. I even brought my USB and kept a copy of my gait analysis and showed my physio.
