One of the more common questions in this forum is about student accommodation.

There are two student villages on Old Cratloe Rd.

    Cratloe Woods
    Thomond Village

Closer to the city is Rice's Corner. They don't have a website so you'll just have to google them and see what rooms they have.

There are other estates around the college such as Dooneen Rd, Kilbranish Rd, Caherdavin Gardens and Coleraine Heights. Use daft.ie to find rooms to rent in those areas under the Caherdavin area.

Please don't start new threads about accommodation. Ask for more info here.

There is also a Third Level Accommodation Thread if you are looking for or have rooms available to advertise.

Does anyone know what the Grove Island student accommodation is like? I've only seen floor plans, there's no photos on their site.

Are there any good or bad things I should know about it? I'm thinking of staying there if I get my course.

Are you going to the art college?

Yeah if I get my course. I know Grove Island is near enough to the art college I'm just wondering what the accommodation is like and what it's like to live there if anyone here knows.

I have no experience there myself but was just making sure you weren't out in Moylish campus. I had a housemate for a week in first year in Cratloe but she was in the Art college. She didn't realise they were separate and she had to look for accommodation in Grove Island a week into the course coz she was wrecked and broke from having to get buses in and out.

There is also the option of Harriston student village which is in front on Cratloe. Its that bit more expensive but the apartments are nicer than Cratloe/Thomond

Accommodation near LSAD on Clare street required for 2nd year Fine Art mature student. Quiet responsible non-smoker. I need accommodation on three nights weekly, Mon-Wed. Ideally I would like an en-suite room, in a quiet house, not more than a 10 minute walk from LSAD. I don't need meals provided but I would like to have access to kitchen just to make my own breakfast and tea in the evening. If you have a spare room available and would like to earn some money from having a quiet lodger, please message me. Thanks.

Hi. I will doing Precision Engineering for a year in LIT from September. I'll be going as a 33 year old mature(ish) student. I love the craic but I've grown up a bit since my first stint in college! I'm wondering where are the best places to be looking for accomodation or if anyone has anything available. Thanks.

How's things! The only info I've found is on Boards. The Old Cratloe road seems a bit dodgy in parts. I'm probably going to try get a place somewhere around Caherdavin, Ennis Rd, Mayorstone. Not sure if any of the student apartments are over 30's student suitable. I've got the car but don't want to be too far away from LIT either. I'm off work next week so hoping to organise something then.

your best bet would either Stradavoher Student Village

    http://www.daft.ie/tipperary/houses-for-rent/thurles/stradavoher-student-village-stradavoher-court-thurles-tipperary-1576342/

    or the Gasworks
    http://www.daft.ie/tipperary/apartments-for-rent/thurles/gasworks-stradavoher-thurles-tipperary-1576703/

the student village would be mostly first years and the gasworks would be a mix.

I'm hoping to start college in LIT next September (2016). I did one year in UL last year and am taking a year out this year to save up some money.
I will be 20/21 when I go back into 1st year, so I was wondering what kind of accomodation I should look into?
any specific places that generally house older students? I don't know anyone in LIT so it's really not an option to live with friends!

My young fella just moved into Thomond village - there seem to be plenty of more mature students about (although certain areas are definitely "party central"). I think you could ring up and find out if you can specify an apartment share with an older crowd? It's as cheap as you can find in Limerick tbf - broadband included, and the security is comforting!

Look at Rhebogue too. On a bike no problem. It wouldnt be worth driving there unless you are getting the free car parking.
