Hows it going man! Congrats on the 5k!

I was actually going to PM you but saw this thread and said I'd join in. Great idea btw...

Myself and a few hundred other Dubs are heading to Ennis on Saturday evening. Where are the best places for pre and post match pints? A few of us are staying the night, so a good late drinking-hole suggestion somewhere in town would be appreciated.

There maybe a private members bar somewhere in town where you can get a pint, can't be saying where it is though ;)

You've The Clinic across from the Courthouse that's often open earlish, that and the hotels will often be able to help you out if you're that stuck, last time I had a pint at 9am in Ennis I hadn't been to bed

You can't really go wrong with the town on a Saturday night to be honest, you'll be able to tell by the outside what it's like :) Cusack Park is right in the middle of town as well, once you leave the park and go right the first bar you will see will be Ciaran's and The Front Bar/Queen's, they'll probably be packed, at the t-junction you'll see YOLO's on your right with Cruise's & The Front Bar Queen's across the way, these are late bars, try to aim to finish up here :) This is Abbey Street by the way

At the t-junction go left you'll see The Dugout (Davey's new bar opening this weekend) and then Knox's, Knox's is another late bar. Past here at the square is Dan O'Connells. From the Square you can go straight to the left or right, if you go to the left you are on O'Connell St. and you'll see The Diamond Bar on the right (past Supermac's) and Brogan's on the left, these are 2 good hurling bars. Further up you'll get The Railway Bar, Brandon's and a few more, a bit far away from the "action of town". This is O'Connell Street.

If you to have gone straight to the right at The Square you'll pass O'Halloran's on your left and then a little further down Faffa's (Considines on the door I think), again decent hurling bars, especially Faffa's. Further down here you'll see another new bar (Barcode) with Lucas' and Charlie Stewarts further down. This is Parnell Street.

I'll probably head somewhere like The Diamond or Faffa's after the match for a few and then head towards Abbey Street later on (once I get permission from herself of course).

Legend. Just did a quick Google Streetview Pub Crawl to get my bearings. Looking forward to it now... win, lose or draw!

What school/s and college/s did you attend and how did you get on in them?
That would be academically, sportingly and romantically. . .

Went to Flannan's and GMIT, did surprisingly well in my leaving and finished my course in GMIT as well, structured education isn't for me but I've been very fortunate to be working in industry for over 15 years now.

Sportingly, I didnt' like the teachers over the Dean Ryan in Flannan's and struggled to make any team. Romantically in Flannan's was a no no (thankfully as it was all boys), College was great though :p

Ha ha Flannans. The Gonk was some man. Very tough to get on any team in Flannans Clareman. Typical favoritism that often rears it's ugly head at county level. I played soccer and rugby myself (well Flannans didn't have a rugby team in my day) and I was playing in goal with the under 14's. Went to every training session got the number 1 jersey. A week before the competition started another lad in my year was playing U15 hurling and they were knocked out. Fr B told the sixth years that were coaching us to put yer man in goal. Turns out Fr B knew his father.

Glad to see it's changed quite a bit. AND unless you're very old there were always sixth year girls to perve over :D

What's your view on some of the outfits girls do be wearing of a Saturday night? Heels up to their knees and skirts up to their elbows. Shocking stuff!:D

How many miracles will we need against Kerry?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 24,053 Mod ✭✭✭✭Clareman

I have great belief in the footballers in Clare, we have some great forwards, but I think we are too naive in the setting up of our team, against Cork we went man for man and couldn't cope when the midfielders ran at us.

If we can keep the gap to less than 10 points we'll be doing well I think

Shameless bump here, just noticed my 10k is up now and didn't want it to be lost in the rugby thread so thought I'd put it in here and allow you all to critique my past answers or add some new questions, I can't believe how much my life has changed in the past 2 and a half years.

Would you rather be stuck in Clare for the rest of your days or never set foot in the county again? :p

We know you're some consultancy person but where do you work? I've seen you before so it's not as if I don't know you. Even the Mod team don't know where Clareman lives..

The world is way too small to confine yourself to just 1 part of it so I would go for never set foot in the county again.
